@augustbide2011: I looked up the Jim Hjelm 8050 and I think it is STUNNING and would work great at a black tie optional wedding. You just make sure your hair and accessories up the glam factor a bit. If the only think stopping you from being 100% committed to this dress is the worry it doesn’t fit with the dress code of the wedding, you do not have to worry about that.

I never had a “OMG this is it” moment with my dress. I went back and forth between 2 dresses 3 times before deciding.

I’m having a more casual outdoor wedding, but my dress is a silk satin dress with a fuller skirt.

You need to love your dress and feel comfortable/confident in it and you will look radiant.

Do you have any photos of you in these dresses? Maybe we could help you out there as well. But seeing your first choice (8050) I think it is GORGEOUS.

I don’t think the jim hjelm is too informal!  Especially as you seem to be very picky, i would go with whatever dress you love the most!

i love jim hjelm dresses! and i think either one of those jim hjelm dreeses would be just perfect for a black tie optional. like the PP said, you can dress it up with dramatic makeup or blingy jewlery. i say go for it! but i don tthink you even need to dress it up.

i didnt have that AHA moment with my dress either – some people do and some dont, im too indecisive to have “the one”

I didn’t have a ‘the one’ moment either, and I don’t think you have to. I let the hive pick mine πŸ™‚ Pick what you like (if you really like one more than the others), and if not – well, post pictures of you in them here πŸ™‚

@KatNYC2011: Totally agree.

@augustbide2011: All of the dresses that you mentioned are beautiful dresses.  I don’t think any of them are informal. My personal favorite is the 8050 dress. I would try the dress on again and ask the bridal shop if you can also try on jewelery to see how it would look glammed up.

I also did not have the moment either. I just picked the dress I liked the most and had all the elements I was looking for.

I really think the Enzoani looks fantastic on your figure, however it’s one of those dresses I feel like I’ve seen before.

I LOVE the Jim Hjelm but wish it was just a little more fitted at the hips.

I think both are fantastic dresses, but I would lean towards the Jim Hjelm because I really love that design and the unique-ness of it.

@augustbide2011:  Don’t let your friends tell you that your dress isn’t formal enough!  Any dress looks instantly more formal if you add stately jewelry and a long veil.  If you wear your hair up, that will add to the formality too.  The dress is only part of the “look”!

They are both beautiful on you, but the Enzoani takes the cake. It is really stunning on you and a perfect mix of formal/playful.

The first picture you placed (I’m not sure which is which) is gorgeous! It shows off your figure perfectly and just looks so stunning! But whichever one is more your style is beautiful!

I think Jim Hjelm 8962 can be for a formal or informal wedding.  I am wearing JH8962 for my beach wedding, but I’ve also seen the dress on numerous brides who had a more formal affair.
