My fiance and I cannot find a venue for our wedding. Our town is a small Baptist town in Texas, and his family is Catholic, mine is protestant, and us all of our friends have conflicting religions, so we don’t want to get married in a church. The thing is, I’ve found literally NO other venues in town besides a church, or a country lodge that doesn’t fit our theme/personalities. There are hotels, but we would have to have the ceremony and reception in the same room without a cocktail hour (not that I really want one). We’ve considered my parents backyard, but it’s just a pasture and I can’t really picture it.
I have no idea what to do! Can anyone help me find a venue in or around Sulphur Springs, TX? We’d rather not travel as far as Tyler or Dallas, because not only would our family that already live in town would have to travel, but our family that’s coming from out of state would have to travel all over the place, and we’d really like to avoid it, but we’re kind of in the middle of no where.

I don’t know much about that area of Texas but I wouldn’t discount having it at your parents house so easily. We had ours at my husband’s parents’ place and it is bascially a large field too. We had a tent and strung lights up and since it was on their property we had way more freedom than if it was at an official venu. We shot a cannon, had a trampoline, and threw rice. Anyway, it could be nice!
Here are some pictures. The photos of the venu are further down..

@lrc3233: That’s beautiful! And you two looked so happy! I was considering it, but more than just the fieldness of it, I’m afraid that it might rain and we wouldn’t have a back up plan.

Think outside the box – museums, art galleries, restaurants, a zoo, park district gardens, government buildings, etc all play host to weddings if the price is right. There are tons of venues to choose from with a little research.
