Don’t stress. This is meant to be a super fun time for you! (Although I hated my dress shopping experience). I wouldn’t rule out the quincera dress – there’s no rule that says you can only buy and wear a bridal dress! Look elsewhere if you can. If you don’t find one you like today then take a deep breath, do some research online and think about your current options. Don’t rush yourself into buying a dress you don’t want.

Sorry to hear you haven’t had much luck with your dress hunt. When’s your wedding? If you have the time to wait, maybe next season’s shipment of dresses might be more up your alley.

Waiting is also nice because even after trying on a ton of dresses, they tend to blend together. Taking a break to clear your mind is always a good idea.

If you can’t wait, maybe you could call the dress stores and ask if they can ever ship in samples to borrow from other shops that are not within driving distance. If so, you could make a short list of dresses you like from magazines and the internet, then see if you could have a few of those borrowed for you to try on.

Aside from that, there IS the GOOD NEWS. You did find 3 dresses you like! So what if one’s a quincinera dress. If you love it, that’s what matters! Remember, you’ll most likely have a veil on with it so you’ll definitely look like a bride, not a teenager.

Good luck!

For me, dress shopping was not the greatest experience and I think that a lot of people will tell you that it’s normal to go in and only like a very small fraction of what you try on AND how depressing it can be when things don’t work out.

Don’t stress out too much over your upcoming trip–it won’t help anything and besides, your dress COULD be there right now! Also there are other options such as having your dress made (by a dressmaker or Etsy has some amazing ones), ordering online, or getting a preowned/vintage dress. So if you are thinking that any of these might be an option for you, pay attention when you shop as to what cuts & fabrics work on your body. A lot of online purveyors, like David’s, will take returns. Also, there are a lot of alterations to a dress that can really change the look of it–you can’t change the silhouette or the fabric, but necklines, sleeves, hems, bustles, etc. can usually be changed. And there’s a lot to be said for accessories–sashes, flowers, etc. can really change the look of a dress.

The other thing you might want to do, just to check in, is make sure that your expectations are not too high. Sometimes, people have their “dream dress” which just doesn’t exist in the real world, or they hope that they’ll morph into Jessica Biel when they put a dress on when the reality is they have a life and don’t spend all their time doing lunges, or they’re thinking that they’ll hear a gospel choir when they find the right one when the truth is, some brides just don’t experience that kind of moment. I perked up when I found mine and it still makes me smile to see it hanging up, but I didn’t find JC when I tried it on. Not saying any of these problems are yours, but just make sure you keep an open mind.

Oh, PS–After i bought my dress, I was looking at photographers by flipping through their blogs and one of them had shot a bat mitzvah in which I saw my dress…on the honoree! But whatever, it still looks bangin’ on me, so…

So don’t rule out a quincinera dress!

When is your wedding? Your info says it has already passed. If it is not until August of next year, if I were you, I would take a break from looking at online or otherwise and also from trying on dresses. It looks to me like you just need to take a break from wedding dresses. Don’t worry, you will find one that you will want to wear. You may or may not have the “the one” moment, but you will find one.

When I posted before, you didn’t have the pics. Oh my goodness, those dresses are all stunning on you! Remember, if poof is what you want, you can always add crinoline! I mean if you don’t love any of them, by all means keep looking, but they’re all beautiful! I especially love love love dress 1!

If you’re worried about one of the dresses being labeled a quinceanera dress, don’t!  The dress I’ve had my eye on is actually considered a bridesmaid dress according to websites.  You make it what it is, so if you want it to be your wedding dress, do it!  All of the dresses you posted are beautiful and fit you like a glove.  Maybe if you take a break from looking for a dress, when you revisit the pictures and bridal shops it’ll come to you easier.

I had mine custom made from a company in China, with specific to my measurements (helpful when you are petite I would imagine!). I used jeffliu, I gave him a picture of what I wanted with my own customizations and couldn’t be happier. So if you can’t find what you want I would recommend that. FYI I do love the first pic though, I think that is stunning on you!

Have you been down to Little White Dress in Castle Rock?

Also, the 2011 lines of dresses *should* come out within the next few months, so that might give you a bunch of new dresses to try, provided they don’t have a 6 month make-time or something like that.

@ThePinkTyrant: Yep, the poofy skirt thing you can wear under a dress to make it extra poofy!

I didn’t have a “the dress” moment either, but I got one and I know it will be beautiful. For the record – I think the first dress on you is STUNNING, formal, and just beautiful all around!
