Ive been doing couch to 5K for 5 weeks now and Ive spent the last 3 weeks doing the week 3 program… In the last week i can do the week 3 program easily, but the moment I try to do the 4th week program I can onlyfinish the first set of 3min then 5 min jog- im done…
I cant seem to do the second repetition of the 4th week program of another 3 min and 5 min… is this normal??? Any help please???
Should I continue trying to do week 4 even though I can only do half of it? it just seems like there is a big step bet week 3 and 4???

Just try doing what you can for as long as it takes, and then try to go up again to week 4 and do what you can then switch to week 3 again.

I would say take your time, but don’t be afraid to push yourself too. I know sometimes when you run you feel like you’re going to die, but it is mostly mental and you just need to push yourself to keep going. Our bodies are made to run… and it will get easier!

thats just it- i dont know if im not pushing myself hard enough or if i should just keep going with week 3 which i finish quite easily…
I think its the step from 3min to 5 min which drains me and then after ive dont it once there is no way i can do the 2nd 5min
By The Way have you ladies finished this program?

I did a similar program, so I’ve been there. (I started running 1, walking 1, for 30 minutes total, then slowly increased the minutes every few days/ a week. So 1/1, 2/1. 3/1, etc.) I’m currently doing the Bridge to 10K program, which builds off the C25K.
I know it’s hard, but you can definitely do it. I remember in the beginning not even being able to finish 1 minute of running! The good thing is it DOES get easier, and looking back, it’s such a boost to see how far you’ve come!
I think if you’re really struggling with week 4, do week 3 for another week and see how it goes. But don’t be afraid if your lungs are burning and you feel tired – just try to push through it.
You will get there! Don’t give up!

Just push yourself like 5 seconds ( cout to 5) more than you think you can handle. Build off of that! I know its like BLAHHHHHH when your in a rut and trying to move forward, but as others said, sometimes you aren’t aware of how strong you realy are!

I’ve finished c25k about 5 weeks ago! It’s a great program. I had to repeat week 5 a few times before I felt like I could do the longer runs. Just repeat as necessary. I also agree with PPs that you need to push though because it’s probably more of a mental thing. When I got to longer runs that I was uncomfortable with, I just slowed down my pace. I would start slow to make sure I could finish, then the next time I’d run a little faster. It’s either mental or you’re exerting yourself too much too early, IMO.

Yes I did, I had been running randomly for a while with no real training program so when I started couch to 5k I think I started on week 4… But I was able to progress through the whole thing.
Just try to do half of it and push yourself for one long stretch then take it easy… Also if it’s to hard slow down, your going for time not distance right now so just take your time and go at an easy pace for now. 🙂
