There is a little bit of history when it comes to finally getting our fur-baby!
We married a year ago and at the time, we had a breeder and had a pup all chosen and lined up for us to adopt her. We picked her out a week before our wedding. A couple days before our wedding, we went to sign our lease on our townhouse… and we found out there that we could not have a puppy :p
It was a little our fault for not knowing the entire dog policy, but we had known they allowed dogs, and the weight limit would allow our breed. These were the apartments we wanted (and dear Lord I needed to get out of the in-laws’ house!). While on our honeymoon my husband gave our breeder the sad call that we needed to hold off on getting our puppy :'(
Fast forward to NOW! 😀 Our situations have changed again and we are now able to have a puppy! YAY! I’ve been in contact with our breeder SO much and we were finally able to come once again and pick out a pup!
Currently, our little girl is 4.5 weeks old. We will be getting her at 8 weeks! AHH!!! Here is where I CAN’T WAIT TO HAVE HERRRRR!!!!!
I have been eagerly waiting for the past couple litters to be born and finally when they were old enough, we picked her out – and since then I’ve been NUTS! 🙂 I am overwhelmed with excitement and want the 8 week mark to be tomorrow, lol.
I want to buy everything for her and have everything prepared – but there is not much else I can do at the moment……… I have done all I can do now and I am bored because I want more haha. I’ve read SO MUCH about the breed, about dogs, about tricks and training, and health, etc. I have gotten toys and made blankets and a bed, and have stuff to make her winter booties even!…..
Is anyone else so anxious for their time to come?! 🙂 WHat have you done so far in preparations and any suggestions?
Here’s our little girl at 3 weeks old: Aussie, the boxer

Congrats!! She’s adorable!
After years of talking about getting a pet, Darling Husband and I finally took the plunge! Our little guy comes home on Oct 2nd, and like you, all I’ve been doing is reading up on the breed/training and puppy proofing our home!
The one thing we did as a prep is decide on rules ie – the dog is not allowed in the bed or bedroom, and a list of other things so that we’re both on the same page when it comes to training him.
Watson – he’s a Vizsla!

aw, how cute! i miss when my doggies were puppies and i could carry them. now they just knock me over, haha.
as cute as they are, puppies are pain in the butt sometimes! definitely puppy-proof your home/yard. they will chew anything and everything: paper, plants (if you have any poisonous plants make sure they’re out of reach), shoes, rugs, they’ll get into your trash….my dog is a catahoula, which is a climbing breed, so nothing is safe from her, haha. we bought bitter apple spray from target and that helped keep my dog from biting/chewing on things.

HOW ADORABLE!!! 😀
I think ours will be Oct. 5th or 6th? Breeder hasn’t confirmed yet.
That’s a Great plan to figure out the house rules! We will def. need to cover some of those, as well as with relatives also
Thanks for the great advice! 🙂 and I find it very funny to have a climbing breed of dog! I can only imagine the things that could happen in your home 😉

Oh my gosh! I’m totally with you on this one. I’ve always wanted a German Shepherd and ever since we moved into our house I’ve been OBSESSING over it! We did tons of research, picked a super reputable breeder, prepped the house (and ourselves) and waited. We have a specific need for him (aside from family companion) so ill be working with a trainer as well (the training program is actually part of the breeder’s company.) The right pup came along and we finally snagged him on Saturday! He was actually already started in his training, completely crate trained, and socialized with kids and babies. His potty training has been going really well. I guess we just had a head start. Lol.
This is Boss! He’s 5 months.
Good luck with your pup! Just remember to stay patient. Puppies are a ton of work but so worth it!

Boss is so cute! a very handsome German Shepard
Yes! Thanks a bunch!
Sounds like you’ve got a great furkid there! It’s awesome to already have him trained some 🙂
Our girl grows up (to 8 weeks) in a household with 3 children in it, and they help the pups learn the family life – I love it! as well as introducing them to little bits of very early training. I’m excited to teach her more!
