It’s not that the first dress I got wasn’t beautiful. It was. But after being tempted to snag it because it was such a good deal (I got the last sample at the store), I started doubting my choice.
I picked up the dress 1.5 weeks ago, tried it on numerous times, and couldn’t help but be disappointed. It was gorgeous, but if I only got to wear a wedding dress once in my life, I wouldn’t want this to be the one.
So on Saturday, I made an appointment at a bridal shop, and tried on the Karena Royale, which I had been eying for a while. It’s everything I wanted!
A $1,000 later, this will be my new wedding dress, but in all ivory:
I’ll wait to try to sell the other one AFTER this one comes into the store, just in case…
Of course, the store didn’t allow us to take pictures, so I’ll have to wait until the dress comes in in August to see it 🙁
Anyone else wearing the Karena Royale?

OMG….this is exactly what I did and I’m wating for the dress that was full priced. I love the sample dress but it is a size or two smaller on the bust area so I’m having to have to alter. Now that I think about it, I’m also waiting until I see the ordered gown to really make a decision.
Going off of the model I think I like the bottom one with lace but would have to see you in it to really give an accurate opinion.
I can’t believe the shop didn’t let you take pics even though you already bought the dress. You should call and try a different consultant and let them know you’ve ordered it and you would really like a pic. One of the shops I went to are known for being jerks but they let me take a pic when I told them I was ordering the same day.
Good luck with the dresses 🙂

the second one is gorgeous! I’m surprised that you couldn’t take pictures after you purchased it.

Wow. You made a good choice. That dress just blows me away!! Whereas the other one, while pretty, is kinda forgettable, KWIM? Good for you.

@malia810 and @phatenigma — they had many signs saying pictures were not allowed. I negotiated a price, after I had taken the dress off, paid the deposit and left — I actually completely forgot to ask to take pictures AFTER I paid for it! I think it was the rush of finally getting a dress I’m sure of!
The bottom dress was definitely nicer/more forgiving The first one was form fitting, but it shows a “pooch” in my stomach that’s not actually there. Plus, it would have to be taken in a bit since it’s a size too big. The corset back of the new one helps fit better, since I have junk in the trunk, and boobs, but a waist that’s a lot smaller (2 sizes smaller than my hips and one size smaller than my chest, based on the dress size charts)
@littlemissmango — that was exactly my issue! I love the first one but it’s just a pretty dress, it didn’t have the wow factor I wanted. It actually looks MUCH better in person than in pictures, but that was my other issue too, I didn’t want a dress that doesn’t look as good in pictures. The second one the details of the dress are not lost in pictures (though I didn’t take pictures, I have googled it enough!)

If you’re a two dress bride, what do you end up doing with the extra dress? I have a feeling I might end up being a two dress bride because I bought one off the rack that I’m starting to not like. Is it easy to go ahead and sell the dress?
By the way, the second one is way gorgeous!!

@taricha — I will definitely sell the first dress. Too many people have suggested I do a “trash the dress” session, but the first dress is still way too big, so I’m not willing to pay for alterations for a photo shoot.
I will try to sell it, but think it’ll be pretty hard to do so 🙁 Said that, my new dress comes in in August, so I’ll wait until it’s here before I try to sell the other dress. Just in case…

I like the second one better, too. I’m also a two dress bride…I think it’s more and more common these days. = ) Nothing wrong with wanting to love what you wear!
