Not sure if I am the only one who has signed up and not been engaged yet, but honestly I may as well be! The proposal is happening within a fortnight and my boyfriend and I have our lives all planned out.
We went window ring shopping so he could get an idea of what I wanted, but stumbled across “the one” engagement ring. When I saw it… there was no denying it. That was mine. The price tag was huge but I could not justify recieving anything smaller, I imagined myself trying to be happy when he proposed with a smaller ring and visualised how I would act so not to hurt his feelings if the ring was sh*t, I woudn’t want to hurt him. The fact I found this ring has sent my mind going crazy… he ordered it away from my eyes on a totally separate day, and it’s on it’s way…
I have been reading about how ladies don’t wish to see their ring before getting it, and it should be all about the guy finding the right ring, but seriously who cares? This way theres no disappointment!!

That was blunt, lol. I agree, though. If You and your partner are happy, eff everything else. Any pictures of this beauty?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with knowing what ring you’re getting. I know that quite a few bees have had rings custom designed or even picked it out with their Fiance. I’m still (impatiently) waiting for mine, but I think ultimately I’m going to show him my three favorites and hope he picks from there. I am very particular about jewelery, not in a conventional sense, but there just isn’t much I really like. We’ve gone out a few times to look at rings and he’s definitely picked some cringe worthy pieces. As long as you’re on the same page, who cares?

I DESIGNED my own ring AFTER we were already engaged. Ask me how much traditions regarding the buying process mattered to us. haha Pretty sure that our ring buying process has had 0 impact on our marriage. 🙂

Yeah I am quite blunt but reading that back it seems a little more blunt than usual lol Here’s a pic

I know exactly what you mean, I was the same in the way there wasn’t much I liked, let alone loved… Hope it goes well for you!

Yup, I went shopping with my fiance and while I wasn’t present when he purchased the ring, I was very specific about what I wanted. I see nothing wrong with this.

Beautiful ring! Congrats! Is that a princess cut center diamond?

My Fiance and I picked out my ring too! We went shopping on 3 separate occasions until we found one that I was completely in love with. Even thought it’s not “traditional” I am sooo happy I picked my own ring! I always thought “I’ll never want a solitaire” and when we went shopping the only thing I liked on my hand was a plan solitiaire! I am so happy I now have a ring I am crazy in love with (to go along with the man I’m crazy in love with) plus the memories of ring shopping are something we can also cherish! 🙂

We did pretty much the same thing…went to “look” and ended up finding the perfect one and purchased it right there. I’m glad I picked it out I’m picky and honestly really don’t think he would have picked out something I’d want to wear forever. It did kinda suck not having that surprise for the proposal but looking at the ring that I love makes me forget that haha

Thank you! It’s incredible in real life, as soon as it’s here I will be posting more pics I am sure lol It’s slightly emerald shaped, radiant cut with two baguette diamonds either side and diamond around it/on the band. I don’t need to say it, I like bling!

I helped design mine, and my husband knew I wanted a round brilliant.

We went shopping for mine too. Found one I loved. He bought it that day and now its in the house. Talk about going crazy!!! You are definitely not the 1st bee to join who isn’t officially engaged. There is an entire section of the board dedicated to waiting bees. I know what you mean about feeling like you’re basically already engaged. Thats how i felt when he bought the ring, but he wants to ask to make it official. Definitely post pictures when it comes!!!

I knew I wanted to pick my own ring and with such a small ring size I could luckily use that as my excuse (not that I really needed one, DH didn’t care if I picked it out or not). I went by myself and pick out “the one” and then sent him the information. He went to the store much later and ordered it and picked out the center stone (it would only fit a marquise – I just mean the cut, clarity, etc.). I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way 🙂 Good for you – that ring is gorgeous!
