That was blunt, lol. I agree, though. If You and your partner are happy, eff everything else. Any pictures of this beauty?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with knowing what ring you’re getting. I know that quite a few bees have had rings custom designed or even picked it out with their Fiance. I’m still (impatiently) waiting for mine, but I think ultimately I’m going to show him my three favorites and hope he picks from there. I am very particular about jewelery, not in a conventional sense, but there just isn’t much I really like. We’ve gone out a few times to look at rings and he’s definitely picked some cringe worthy pieces. As long as you’re on the same page, who cares?

I DESIGNED my own ring AFTER we were already engaged. Ask me how much traditions regarding the buying process mattered to us. haha Pretty sure that our ring buying process has had 0 impact on our marriage. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yup, I went shopping with my fiance and while I wasn’t present when he purchased the ring, I was very specific about what I wanted.  I see nothing wrong with this.

jmeetsj:  Beautiful ring! Congrats!  Is that a princess cut center diamond?

My Fiance and I picked out my ring too! We went shopping on 3 separate occasions until we found one that I was completely in love with. Even thought it’s not “traditional” I am sooo happy I picked my own ring! I always thought “I’ll never want a solitaire” and when we went shopping the only thing I liked on my hand was a plan solitiaire! I am so happy I now have a ring I am crazy in love with (to go along with the man I’m crazy in love with) plus the memories of ring shopping are something we can also cherish! ๐Ÿ™‚

We did pretty much the same thing…went to “look” and ended up finding the perfect one and purchased it right there.  I’m glad I picked it out I’m picky and honestly really don’t think he would have picked out something I’d want to wear forever.  It did kinda suck not having that surprise for the proposal but looking at the ring that I love makes me forget that haha

I helped design mine, and my husband knew I wanted a round brilliant.

We went shopping for mine too. Found one I loved. He bought it that day and now its in the house. Talk about going crazy!!! You are definitely not the 1st bee to join who isn’t officially engaged. There is an entire section of the board dedicated to waiting bees. I know what you mean about feeling like you’re basically already engaged. Thats how i felt when he bought the ring, but he wants to ask to make it official. Definitely post pictures when it comes!!!

I knew I wanted to pick my own ring and with such a small ring size I could luckily use that as my excuse (not that I really needed one, Darling Husband didn’t care if I picked it out or not). I went by myself and pick out “the one” and then sent him the information. He went to the store much later and ordered it and picked out the center stone (it would only fit a marquise – I just mean the cut, clarity, etc.). I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way ๐Ÿ™‚ Good for you – that ring is gorgeous!
