I have been searching for the perfect venue for our reception since July. I found one I liked a few weeks back, but they wouldn’t let us in the hall until the afternoon of our wedding day, so that was cut.
I FINALLY found one I absolutely loved, and was within our price range!! I contacted them on Wednesday and they told me the hall was available. I told them I would go look at the hall as soon as possible and would most likely be booking it. I looked at it last night, LOVED it, and contacted them first thing this morning. Turns out someone called in an hour before me and snagged it.
I’m so upset. I know it’s just a hall, but I’ve put in so much effort into this search and I thought my hunt was finally at an end. 🙁

@adnama:
Oh I’m so sorry! It took us 6months to find the perfect venue so I understand!
Did you ask them for other available dates?

You’ll find an even better venue! Try and think outside the box. We had our ceremony and reception at our town zoo. Everyone loved it. While I was looking up weddings on the knot in our area and venues, I came across a lot of venues that I didn’t even realize you could rent. There’s an art gallery in our downtown area, the art museum, an old theater, an old victorian house in the downtown area, etc. Think beyond just a reception hall. Also, my dad is an electrician and his union has a union hall building that they rent. It is actually supposed to be suprisingly nice inside which surprises people because it’s reasonably priced. So, look into options like that. There’s tons of options you probably haven’t considered.

@adnama: Ugh, the exact same thing happened to us. The couple who booked it was walking out of the building when we walked in. It was so sad.
Keep hope, though! You’ll find the perfect venue!

@iheartnerds: Well we already ordered our save the dates, so we are trying hard not to move it, and I’m not sure the availability of the ceremony location at this moment. If it comes down to it though, we may have to.
