Not at all, but I’m not the sentimental type. We move every year for work and are always cleaning things out and living with the bare minimum. I couldn’t imagine keeping it, actually.

I think I’m going to. I know it’ll be tempting to recoup the money, but I love the idea that my future daughter could use it at some point… or just to have it as a reminder. I also read about a vow renewal ceremony where she had her old dress reworked and I love that idea!

Yes! But agreed, I don’t know what I’ll do with it. Currently it’s just sitting in a suitecase at my parents’ house, next to the suitecase containing my sister’s wedding dress.

I’m with you. My dress was also designed and made for me by a dear friend, so it has double the sentimental value. 🙂 I had it dry cleaned and then preserved it in an acid-free dress storage box. It’s now sitting in my mom’s spare closet, where it will probably stay for a good long time!

I agree. I will not expect any possible future daughters to wear my dress, but it will be an option if they would like. I actually took pieces from my mom’s dress and incorporated them into the wedding–I’d be totally ok with that for the future!

No, I’m not really the sentimental type. I also hate clutter. My mom kept hers and it sat in the attic for 25 years until it got yellow. I don’t really see the point in that, I’d rather just recoup any funds I can & move on as a happily married woman.

@mightywombat:  It’s been almost 7 months since our wedding and I’m thinking it’s too late to preserve my dress…true?

@pengoala:  I don’t see why it would be too late.

I feel the same way.. I love my dress so much!  I have a short dress so it almost could be worn to other occasions, but I simply can’t imagine what occasion I could wear such a fancy white-ish dress to.  Sigh!

I thought I would want to sell it, but now that I’ve had two fittings I’m in love and could never part with it. Also it has been altered to fit my body like a glove, it would be hard to try and find someone with a body just like mine to sell it to.

Edit: I didn’t mean for that to sound like, oh my body’s so great, cuz it’s not perfect. I just meant it as I couldn’t sell it and say it’s a size 6 or 4 because now its not a certain size. Blah I just thought what I wrote didn’t read right…
