I have had issues with my wedding set basically since we got it. Most recently the last few months. I posted about it here…..
So I finally decided on what to replace the enhancers with last Wednesday. I decided on the thicker cathedral solitaire with two semi enternity bands on the sides. They only had one of the bands in the store and they were requesting one from a different store. She ordered it last Thursday and it just got in today. They call and say that the one they got in was a size 9.5 and couldn’t be sized down to a 5.25 without ruining the settings for the diamonds. He said he will order another one from a different store and it should be here by Thursday. I have been without my ring now for 2 weeks! So once they get the other band in, they will then send both bands and solitaire into the jeweler to have him start. He would be replacing the head with platinum and sizing and soldering the rings together. I asked about a rush order and he said he wants to make sure my ring doesn’t get rushed and wants it done right. So now I am looking at the middle of November before I might get my ring back.
I really want to call the District Manager for Kay’s and complain. I just don’t know if I should or if I do call what do I even say. I am just so mad that I could cry. All I want is to wear my wedding ring.

Oh, I’m so sorry this happened! It’s funny how naked we feel without that ring isn’t it? I know you don’t want to wait, but if it were me, I would let that jeweler take his time, this isn’t the kind of thing you want a rush on…meanwhile….how’s about shopping for a compelling stand in…I mean, it’s not a BAD reason to go shopping for jewelry, is it?

i would let it go- i think you are kind of overreacting. you don’t want them rushing to do this- you want it perfect. people are just that– people. mistakes happen and the wrong size gets ordered. you are still married. if your naked finger is bothering you that much, stop in somewhere for a cheapy band for a few weeks.

I’m so sorry but I know exactly how you feel! My engagement ring and wedding band are from kays and we have had issues with their customer service department and company in general. I would recommend NOT having anything rushed by the Kay jewlers, when they rush things they turn out horrible looking. My fiance bought my engagement ring from Kay’s about a week before he wanted to propose, he bought me a tolkowsky solitare and since he decided that he didn’t like the original tolkowsky setting he had it set in a Tiffany stlye setting and had it rushed. After he proposed I noticed that the setting had gouges taken out of it and it was scratched so badly that it wasn’t even fixable, Kays had to completely replace the setting and since it was their fault we obviously didn’t have to pay. So now i get nothing rushed from Kays and I would recommend the same to you! Good luck!!! My fiance said if he could do it all over again he wouldn’t have gone to Kays because of their horrible service! On the plus side he did a great job and now that everything is figured out I absolutely love my ring, it’s exactly what I wanted.

Chill out. Wouldn’t you rather them do it right than do it tomorrow? 😛

i would just wear another ring until the other one comes in. go pick up a cheap filler ring.
be patient. you want them to do it right so don’t rush them.

I just responded to your other thread with my thoughts on this. honestly, I would tell them to stop the order and take your business elsewhere.
