@turnanewleaf:  I have hormonal acne, so I might try this. thanks for the tip! 

a long time ago I started using zinc based sunscreen moisturizer (olay complete, the sensitive skin kind), and I noticed my skin got clearer and just less irritated looking. I looked it up and learned that topical zinc is soothing for the skin.

so based on your post, I did some research. it seems that zinc supplements help balance hormone levels and help with healing / inflammation. so that’s like a one-two punch for acne!

PS: I found that drying products never did anything for me. hormonal acne just doesn’t respond well to that. for me, using gentle cleansers and keeping my skin moisturized and exfoliated actually worked better. just a tip!

omggg you might be my new favourite human. my acne path sounds VERY similar to yours. i have tried everything. accutane was great… for a hot minute. but now i’m SO STRESSED that my skin is going to be awful for my wedding. loading up on zinc this weekend.

While I am excited that you are getting such great results taking Zinc, I have just read a study that copper can be a contributing factor in alzheimers… so you may want to read up on the NOT so awesome side effects of copper zinc.
