This is awesome! I am going to pick some up soon. My breakouts aren’t as bad as yours but I do get some pretty deep rooted ones that take forever to go away. Thanks for the tip!

I tried zinc a few years ago when I had a copper IUD to try to balance it out. Maybe I didn’t take it for long enough (my stomach could NOT handle it, even when full), but I didn’t notice a difference. I took the IUD out after a couple of months, too >.<

I started taking Vitamin D3 and chucked out ALL my other acne products. Using gentle cleansers and moisturizers, coupled with Vitamin D3 has done wonders for me. Just another tip for you bees! Totally clear for the last… 6 months or so? Still on the same bottle!

Good luck to you all! I have heard amazing stories about Zinc!

@SweetartMD:  thanks for that! I believe that certain supplemetns can do a world of good, but it’s good to keep on top of these studies. I am terrified of alzheimer’s! because of your post, I just went to the health store and found a good multi-zinc w/o copper. I hope it works!

@TammieRei:  if it’s cramps you were having with the copper IUD, my doc recommended calcium supplements. it really helped me, and my girlfriends swear by it too. women tend to not get enough calcium in their diets anyway so I figure it can’t hurt.

@nerdybird:  Naw, I took it out because I started getting cystic acne which I had never had in my life. Yeah, vanity won that one! But it’s amazing what a lack of a certain vitamin can do to your body, and the change once you start getting your recommended amount!

Careful on taking too much zinc, though, you guys – in addiction to mopping up copper, it also blocks iron and magnesium uptake, and can lower good cholesterol levels as well as impede immunity. As long as you aren’t in the “hey, if one is good, two must be better” school of thought, you should be ok.

Wow, thanks for the tip! I’ve been battling acne since I was 16 and am getting rather sick of it by now. Yelling “I’m too old for you!” at the spots in the mirror doesn’t seem to be working so I’ll have to give this a try 😉

Very interesting. I will keep this in mind. I’m pregnant and not sure if this is somthing I can consider at the moment but definitely willing to try.
