@turnanewleaf: Thanks for the response! Lol I actually brought my entire bottle of zinc with me to work today. It doesn’t say anything other than there’s 15mg of zinc (50% as zinc arginate, 25% as zinc histidinate, 25% as zinc glycinate). I think I’ll have to research it more… Thanks again for sharing all that!!

I bought the chelated zinc as well, so we shall see!

i am breaking out so bad today. But it’s that time of month and I only took 2 pills. I’m worried about my copper levels now.
hope this works for us all!

@turnanewleaf: How long can you take the zinc for? Does it seem to accumulate in your system at all? I have been on antibiotics FOREVER! And I have been wanting to get off of them, but I am terrified! I did start taking a multi-vitamin that has a little zinc in it and my skin has been even better lately! I was on accutane 3 times in my life and I never want to go on it again…. it def take a toll on your body!

I did some research after reading your post and turns out I have some signs of zinc deficiency like white spots on my nails and bruising easily… (and nasty acne that was only 50% helped by diligent routine and topical tretinoin, which made me sad, that crap is expensive)
I’m buying some as soon as I’m done work to add to my nightly pill-fest 🙂 I’ll probably start with the therapeutic dose and taper a little bit to every other day after I see results, and make sure I take some copper also. I’m a fan of using supplements to “top off” by basically taking one every couple days, except my calcium and omega-3. Overdosing is bad.
I’ll have to post a review in a few weeks! If I’m actually low then this could be a major breakthrough! Thank you!

I just met with an herbalist who recommended this as well! Oh, how I wish someone had told me this when I was 16 and on every antibiotic known to man. I’m starting my son on zinc now. Annnd… I also have signs of zinc deficiency~ why would not one dermatologist notice this over a decade of trying to treat my acne?

@jjmomma: Right?? I agree! Honestly, my acne is not bad. But after trying various types of BCPs this year, I get very noticeable and red pimples. Clearly hormonal, which my dermatogist told me, but nobody recommended zinc! I am truly grateful for this thread.
@Ice_cream: My face has definitely gotten much clearer! I’ve been on two topical medications and have only seen minimal improvements. The zinc is doing so much more, and I’ve only been consistently taking it the last three days (I’m awful with remembering to take my supplements!).
Also, Too Much Information alert but I feel like this could be really helpful to some ladies: I used to have a crazy sex drive- like I’d want sex all the time. One or more of the few BCPs I tried earlier this year screwed that up. I’d only want sex a few times a week. The zinc has really helped to bring back my usual sex drive. Yesterday we cancelled all our plans. It was phenomonal to have that back again. My lack of sex drive really, really made me depressed. I am so incredibly grateful for this.

@MrsHoneyBear: I was going to ask for an update! I’m so happy it’s working for some people. I hope it works for me but it hasn’t yet. I’m also on two topical medications. …I hope this happens to my sex drive too. Thanks for sharing!

In case this hasn’t been mentioned —
Check with your doctor before you take zinc supplements (it’s not good for some people to take with bowel conditions), and ALWAYS take Zinc with food. I take it when I feel a cold coming on (Ziacam is basically a vitamin C and Zinc pill), and if I ever take it on an empty stomach I vomit everywhere – this is a super common side effect.

@Ice_cream: Let me know how it goes!! I really really hope it goes well for you 🙂 🙂

@MrsHoneyBear: I mentioned the increased sex drive in my OP, glad you’re enjoying this benefit too 😉

@turnanewleaf: Just bought chelated zinc from whole foods today and I am hoping to get the same results as you! Thanks for the tip.
