We did three things. First, we had an anniversary dance (where all couples go onto the dance floor, and then they leave as the length of time they have been married is announced up and up) – I gave my bouquet to the couple who had been married the longest – 55 years 🙂
Then, I had a “tossing” bouquet that broke apart so that there was a flower for every single girl I could anticipate. And each had a ribbon tied to it with messages or quotes about love.
We did a straight up garter toss for the guys (I iced my DH in the process too!!).
For all three events, we had a TON of participants. It was a lot of fun!

We did a bouquet and garter toss at our wedding and I thought it was fun!
We did a little spin on ours though. We didn’t have a lot of single men or women at our wedding, so we called all the men for the garter toss and women for the bouquet toss out to the floor, and we asked our DJ to specify that it didn’t matter if they were in single, in a relationship, or married. Whoever caught the garter and bouquet got a Chinese lucky red envelope with $20 inside and our guests loved it!
We didn’t make the guy put on the garter on anyone either, so nothing about it was awkward.
ETA: I want to thank BurlapnLace for giving me this idea!

I haven’t been to a wedding yet that didn’t do it! Last year my Fiance got the garter from his cousins/best friend’s wedding. Unfortunately the reception turned into a disaster before the bouquet could be tossed, but either way we’re engaged now! It was fun, I see no harm in doing it 🙂

I wasn’t going to have either, but my mom convinced me to, and I’m so glad we did. It was silly and super fun. We’re some of the first of our friends to get married, so we had a lot of participants.
For the garter toss we played “You Sexy Thing” by Hot Chocolate
Bouquet toss “Only Girl in the World” by Rihanna
