I did it!! I officially did it!! I booked the venue for our wedding BEFORE I actually received a ring!! (I know sorry I got you guys all hyped up for that!)
Once in awhile I would call the venue to see about openings (just to check to see if anyone else had grabbed our date), praying & praying that it was still available. My last phone call was yesterday & the only date available from April-August was the weekend I wanted. So I called my SO & he said go for it. (He was actually the one that told me to book it weeks ago, but I was too scared)
Now it’s official!! Well sort of…I want to yell it from the rooftops but don’t want people to look at me strangely when I tell them we picked a date but aren’t officialy engaged yet. So instead I am telling everyone on here! I am so excited, yet very nervous! We have not run the date past anyone yet so hopefully both families will be happy with it! But I am (semi) officially an April 23, 2011 bride!!! YAY!!!!
Still waiting for that ring….and p.s. I haven’t even tried looking for it! Gosh I am such a good girl! 🙂

I felt the same way! I waited for my ring for over a month while we shopped and waited for it to arrive. Wish I had booked ahead of time too! You are smart!

My fiance and I did the SAME thing! We had talked for months about getting married, picked our ideal date and everything…and then realized that it was a very popular weekend and there was only 1 place in our town big enough to hold everyone. So we booked it! 4 months later, we were “officially” engaged!
But I was unable to keep my mouth completely shut to my friends, which caused a lot of the “wait….what? you’re getting married but you arent engaged?” questioning…haha!

we did that too 🙂 we thought the ring was going to take 4-6 weeks so we started looking at venues. we picked a holiday weekend and found a venue we LOVED and were afraid it would get snatched up since they typically book 12-18 months in advance. the thing came in the week after he ordered it and we were engaged 10 days after i threw down the deposit! however, we did talk to our parents about it–mine specifically, since they were paying for most of it. they all thought it was pretty amusing.
we would tell people we’re getting married, we’re just taking our sweet ole time on the engagement 🙂

My very good friend (getting married a month before me) did that! I remember her calling saying “I got my dress” and I was like “where’s the ring?” hehe but it worked out so well for them and for many bees as well!
congratulations to YOU!
