I had a roommate once that didn’t know she was pregnant until she was already six months along.   She was a skinny mini too.  She had gain just alittle weight, but we were eating out quite a bit, and her periods were normal for her.  She had always had strange periods due to some female issues.  Literally, over night, her boobs got HUGE and she came into my room with just a bra half on and said “um, I think I might be pregnant.”  I swear, she looked just as skinny as she had the day before, just with bigger boobs.  Turns out she was six months along and happy as a clam.  She had always been told by the docs that she would never be able to have kids, so this was a super happy surprise for her.

I’ve seen the show a few times and it seems like for most of the women they fall into one (or more) of a few categories.  They were told they medically couldn’t conceive a child, or that it would be nearly impossible–some had issues that also caused abdominal pain or menstrual irregularity, so they mistook signs of pregnancy for symptoms of their disorders, or thinking it was impossible would attribute pregnancy symptoms to something else happening.  Others were significantly overweight, which apparently sometimes can make it harder to notice symptoms (they might not gain weight, or attribute it to just a period when they’re gaining again). Most had never had a child before, and so they didn’t connect the dots.

In many of the episodes, it seems like the women often fell into at least 2 of those categories, but there are always a few that just truly blow your mind because they seem sooo unusual.

@tksjewelry: Wow!!! I love stories like that.

I heard one where this woman went to the bathrrom and apparently she realized a baby was coming out, instead of waste. She yelled to her mother to get into the bathroom and her mother realized what was going on and got there just in time to catch the baby. Neither of them knew that she was pregnant!

Wow!

I saw one episode where a lady gave birth in an amusement park bathroom after getting off a roller coaster! She had a perfectly healthy baby too! Holy crap!

The ones where I’m like “Hmmmmm…” are when they go into labor and are pregnant with twins. I really feel as though you would notice twins at some point.

@KatyElle: I love the twins special! I saw one where a woman was in the bathtub and giving birth to twins (and she didn’t know she was pregnant at all) that were both breach. Ahhh! I can’t believe that.

With my first baby I didnt know until 5 months! I took a test because I started showing. No symptoms still had my period everyother month (like normal) up until 6 months along.

But I started gaining weight around thanksgiving and christmas when we were taking a break from dance practice and I was eating a ton so I didnt notice until my stomach started getting bigger and nothing else. and I was a stick like TINY but within a week of finding out (and stopping my every day ab workouts) I popped out and had a VERY noticeable baby belly!

2 weeks before finding out I was prego! sorry for such bad picture quality

2 months later

I know someone from high school who didn’t know she was pregnant. No weight gain, normal periods, no disorders/any issues previously that would hint to her being able or not being able to have a child. She went in to the hospital in severe pain, and had a baby a few hours later!

Her mom and mine are close friends, and apparently she gained a minimal amount of weight, was horseback riding as always, etc. Just never knew until the day he came. So crazy!

I’ve never met anyone who this has happened to but I’ve seen the show and it really is fascinating! I made my husband watch a couple of episodes and now he’s totally terrified, lol.
