Wedding is 8 months away, and my biggest loath of myself is my lower teeth. I had braces when I was a kid, but like most kids, I didn’t wear my retainer. So there goes my teeth. Top stayed pretty well. But my bottom, well lets say, when I smile my lip sucks up under my top teeth, thats the best way I can discribe it. I hate it.
So I enrolled in this program called 6 month smile. Clear braces with tooth color wire. And usually a max of 6-7 months. With free whitening at the end. So I went in yesterday and got them put on. And I knew as soon as the brackets were on. I Should have done invisalign. My teeth are extremly small. I ground them when I slept when I was a child. Now a third of my teeth are missing So now that these brackets are on. I can’t bite down right.
Good news? They make bite guards. That they glue to my teeth.
Bad news? I can only bite on those. And they can’t get me in until monday I think.
So smoothies, applesauce, and mashed potatoes for me!

@gogogiraffes: Hah I had braces before my wedding too (for the same reason as you…REDO >.<) and I couldn’t bite correctly. I just….adjusted to chew with my lower jaw way back…
It was really awkward for a while but I got used to it. THen I had to get used to the regular way again, but the pain is worth it! I think it helped me lose weight too because I went to the dentist every week and they adjusted it….so my teeth pretty much hurt constantly. I didn’t want to eat too bad if my teeth always hurt 🙂
Anyway, you’ll get through it and your teeth will look great!! Good luck with the adjustment 🙂

Yikes! I know how ya feel girl. I recently got 2 pallatial expanders put in (top and bottom) It’s nearly impossible to eat certain foods because it always get caught up between the “crab” part and the top of bottom of my mouth. Ugh!

They told me at the most 2 months. And maybe even sooner since I’ve had them before. They actaully fit me in yesterday! So I have these bite guards in now. Just a filling in my teeth. Kind of stinks. But I had chicken last night!
I figured, a soft diet wouldn’t be to bad to do before the wedding anyway 😉

I have invisalign and I’ve got the same problems with my teeth no longer matching up. It’s frustrating sometimes when I try to chew, but after wearing them for a couple months now, it’s getting better. But I seriously can’t wait for these stupid things to be off.
