Hi!
Just has a very interesting question posed to me:
“Would you (as a ‘beliver’) date/marry someone who does not believe in God?”
Hi!
Just has a very interesting question posed to me:
“Would you (as a ‘beliver’) date/marry someone who does not believe in God?”
This is a difficult question for some and very sensitive to answer. Below is my personal answer.
Having a believer as my SO/DH has always been the first item on my must have list in a mate. When I was dating, however, I didn’t ask that right off of the bat. However, before things progressed too far I made it a point to bring it up some way and admittedly if they said they were not a believer I would lose interest immediately. I just felt it would be too difficult to move forward if we had that fundamental difference. For me being with someone who believes as I do makes the relationship easier because while we may not agree on everything our values match and we stand on the same foundation. I can trust that we will treat each other using the same biblical principals. Thus, for me, my preference is to be with a believer. That being said if by chance I had fallen in love with someone who did not believe in God I would hope that my love and prayers would open him up to becoming a believer. I certainly would request he come to church with me, pray with me, and read the bible with me along the way.
I personally could not date, especially not marry someone who does not believe in God. My relationship is rooted in my religion. To me, what is a relationship without God?
