I agree. I could never pull it off.

That’s nice that you think that.

I think that if a bride wants to wear gloves, and is able to proudly pull it off, that is awesome.

I have to admit, I was a bit startled when NotFroofy said she would like us to wear opera gloves for our wedding.  However, I ended up liking the look.

I love gloves. I really wanted to wear some lace gloves (maybe even black lace gloves, gasp) for our wedding. I quickly got vetoed but still love the look!

I agree! I think some people pull it off very well but it’s something I don’t think fits me at all.  I did see a few brides wear lace fingerless gloves that I thought was a really cool modern twist on the more traditional satin gloves.

I’ve never cared for the look, for myself. But there have been a few styles (with the appropriately styled wedding dress) that are to die for.

Yea, I thought about wearing elbow length gloves myself, but I really don’t think I like the look either so I’ll probably just wear a lace shrug for our at home reception in October.

My 1st wedding planning I had gloves but the wedding never happened… heres some pics however…

they are a little blurry but you get the picture!

oh man this was only 2 years ago and I was so much smaller… sigh. lol

I originally just wanted to cover my tattoos but I’m letting them all show for this wedding and my dress now is the complete opposite with no gloves =)

I like the idea of delicate lace gloves, but I don’t think I’ll ever get the chance to wear them.

Elbow length gloves remind me of high school graduation. We had to wear them then. They looked nice for the occasion. Seems like a lot of wedding pictures from the 90’s had gloves featured prominently.

I love the look of gloves, but I totally understand what you mean when you say that not everyone can pull off that look. Hello, nice to meet you, I’m one of those people that look ridiculous.

I just don’t get how I look silly but other people make them look so elegant! I wonder if it’s something about how my fingers are short and chubby :).

@brox: Several weddings I attended in the 90s and early 2000s featured brides with gloves. While I feel that the look is a bit dated, my biggest problem with them is that the tips of the fingers rarely are sewn well enough to fit the bride’s fingers – which results in them looking too big and bit awkward in close-up photos. I wore them for Prom and sort of had the same issue. You can’t really tell in pictures though, because they are just snapshots and not expensive wedding photography :).

@eloping: They make gloves especially for brides with a removable left hand ring finger. So that finger’s covering can be removed for that part of the ceremony, and then replaced. I also have a friend of a friend who just bought a regular pair of gloves and chopped off the finger to DIY it herself, lol.
