Did you try it on with your undergarments?  Sometimes a waist cincher or long line bra can really help distribute things evenly and get the dress to zip.

There’s also the lose weight before the wedding option, but it’s not one you’d want to rely on.  Although could the fact it doesn’t zip be due to scrumptious holiday foods?  If so, now that you’ll be back to your normal eating, you may go back to your original size.

Also- depending on how much more room you need, the tailor/seamstress may be able to let out some of the seems and buy you 0.5-1inch more space.

As a last resort, I know other brides have had luck making the dress into a corset back to buy them extra space.

You have several months, so don’t panic!!

Good luck!

I had this problem and I lost a little bit of weight and I now can zip into my dress. Barely. I should not eat beforehand. Also it helps to have an extra pair of hands to help zip you into your dress. Unless you have amazing contortionist skills.

It is very hard to zip a dress on yourself.  I accidentally broke my zipper when I was trying it on and was afraid to play with my dress again after that.  You have some time, try to eat fewer calories than your body needs since diet is the best way to lose weight.

EDIT: Didn’t mean to say starvation, I was just saying that if right now your BMR says you should eat 2100 calories that you can cut that down by 200 or 300 a day as long as you don’t go below around 1200.

a diet should never be eating fewer calories than your body needs…that’s starvation, not dieting! you should be eating the minimum or near it of what your body needs! to figure out what that number is, you should consult a doctor or professional dietitian/nutritionist/etc.

sorry, recovered anorexic got a bit of an ‘eek!’ feeling when she saw that, heh.  in any event, good luck fitting in to your dress! you can totally make it work, you have three months!

I know what you mean!  All the yummy food around the holidays isn’t good for trying to fit in a dress.  By the way, the way you can calculate an estimate of the amount of calories your body needs to maintain your weight, there are calculations here: http://weightloss.about.com/od/eatsmart/a/blcalintake.htm  If you eat 500 less calories each day, you will lose a pound a week; 1,000 less and that’s 2 pounds a week but you have to be careful about restricting yourself too much!  I know that I get really grouchy if I go below 1,500 calories in a day.
