YES!!

I’m sorry you’re going through this, but just know you’re not alone!

I have a masters and am working in a job that barely requires a bachelors. The economy was not kind to me, and this all I could find. I’m an admin for 2 departments and yet am making the same salary as admins in my company who only work for 1 dept.

Today is one of those days that I feel I’m not getting paid enough for this crap — my co-workers are particularly needy today.

Blah, I’m just counting down til the weekend!

100% right here! Being a project manager for my department, a lot falls into “special projects” which is apparently part of my job. So anything anyone doesn’t feel like doing, they dump on me. And my boss is quite the moody ahole sometimes, so I am with you when you say you don’t get paid enough for this sh*t!

I will vent with you!

I feel like I am overworked and underpaid for the crap I gotta deal with also. I am also the youngest one in our department and one of my coworkers who have been here ever since the company has started still has no idea how to work a computer that well, what our policies are, etc. So whatever she is not able to do, gets dumped onto me. I work tons of overtime and do not get paid extra (salary) and when I want to leave 15min early (yes…15min early….) I have to explain in detail why I am doing so and make sure I make up that “15min” by not taking a break, etc. My Fiance told me to just not do all the work anymore and my explanation willl be “I have too much to do!”…..Not sure how well that will blow over Undecided

Oh hun, I feel ya… this is also “temporary” … and I just hit my 6 month mark. I can’t find anything in my field and it’s uber depressing. My job sucks, so I am constantly reminding myself throughout the day of the things that I should be grateful for.

We’ll get through this!!

You’re definitely not the only one!!! I’m the youngest one at an organization with 90 employees in my building alone.  In my area, there are about 25 people and I’ve been dubbed the “go to person” which also means “the dump your crappy jobs on” person.

Oh how I feel your pain.

I don’t have a degree, but I do have all my licenses.  I was promised commisions and a raise when I obtained my P&C license.  That was over a year ago, I was give a $1 raise and NO commisions.  I do everything except Life Insurance.  My boss?  He is here for maybe 3.5 hours a day.  I make diddly squat compared to others in my field.  But the perks are I’m the only when in the office when he isn’t here, my hours are pretty flexible and I’m really close to home.

Still the not very good pay outweighs everything else.

@TinyTina: What is your field? I’m just curious.

This is actually why I left my first job. I loved the job itself, but I was barely paid a decent starting salary for 2.5 years straight and my job responsibilities multiplied X10. I was given a full book of accounts to work on, then asked to cover an entire additional territory, more than doubling my book. I was also in charge of training the new person and organizing all the events (too cheap to hire an event planner). I asked for a raise 3 separate times and was told no every time. It was really getting old how much they worked me and how little my pay was, esp compared to others with my same experience. So finally one day I resigned to go to another company and of course they countered with a really great salary, almost the same I was offered at my new job. Unfortunately sometimes you aren’t appreciated until you ahve 1 foot out the door!

@moderndaisy: I have a masters in history. In retrospect it was a dumb idea. I was on track for a career in the museum field, but unfortunately most museums have lost funding and are closing shop left and right due to the economy.

I’m currently working for a business improvement district, which is nowhere near what my intended/desired field is. C’est la vie (for now anyways).

@MsJ26: I just came back from Starbucks!! Mmmmmmmm….

I feel for you.  I graduated from school in june.  But because we now have too many people in the field I chose and the crappy economy I don’t think I will ever find a job.  I’m also way over educated for my cashier job in retail, which has no knocked me down to two days a week of working.  This economy sucks and everyone is stuck in jobs that we are not made for.  I also hate when people say “At least you have a job”  Big deal if you don’t like your job or they treat you like crap.  Keep your head up, it has to get better.
