If she says no because of the ring, then you need to ask if she truly is the one for you… my Fiancee could have given me a gumball machine ring and I still would say yes a thousand times!

She’s going to love it!   You’ve put so much thought in to it and that means so much.   I love that you engraved it,  that makes it even more special.   I kept hinting to my (now) FI about the four C’s and that he should research that a bit before buying,  but I don’t think he did.   I still love my ring any ways,  but I’m impressed that you did your homework.   And if she knows anything about diamonds she’ll see the value in owning one with better quality instead of size.   I think you should still propose and try not too think about what your family says.   You know your gf best and you put your heart in to choosing a ring for her,  that’s all that matters.   Best of luck on the proposal!   Let us know how it goes!

This ring is beautiful and classic and there’s no reason she wouldn’t love it. If you came here with a more ornate or unusual style, I think a lot of people would say “It’s nice but not for me” — but this ring is classic, timeless, and simple, so it’s really hard for me to imagine anyone hating it. I think it’s a nice size and I personally love thin bands. Unless she had a very specific thing in mind (e.g. really wanted a sapphire or loves split-shank bands and halos), there is no reason she won’t love it. And, if she really wanted something else, you could always decide to reset it later. As for the engraving — I think it’s something you guys will laugh about. Personally I’d wait to get it fixed until after the wedding so that you could also have the wedding date engraved then. 🙂 And like others have said, only a woman who didn’t want to get married anyway would turn you down because of the ring!

browneyedgirl24 :  I agree; it’s a classy setting with a quality center stone, and I think that’s the right way for a guy to go when picking out a ring himself. I hate to sound disparaging of others, but for the benefit of OP I’ll say it: I appreciate OP’s well-researched approach over that of other guys I’ve seen who just go for the biggest stone and/or the most “unique” (aka overwrought) band they can find. Hopefully OP picked his ring knowing that his girlfriend would appreciate this as well.

It’s absolutely gorgeous and your gf is a lucky woman! I’d be thrilled to get that ring. I’ve actually told my bf I really, really want a thinner band so the stone stands out more. I love the ring you bought, and it’s clear you’re excited and put a lot of thought into it!

The ring is gorgeous!! If she is anything like me, she will love it because you selected/designed it and engraved it with her in mind.

My FI’s family also said something similar to him when he showed them my ring–thought the band was too dainty. It may be a generational style difference (?) but it made him second guess himself. I LOVE my ring (it also has a thin pave band) and would not trade it for anything. So glad he went forward with it and hope you will too.

Congrats on being ready for this big step!

It’s beautiful!  Don’t let someone else’s opinion ruin it for you.  You know your girlfriend best and I’m sure she will love it.

That ring is gorgeous and I think she would love it! Go and propose to the love of your life! If she turns you away because of that ring then you should not be with her. But you know her best, so I think if you picked it out for her and took so much time searching for it then it is perfect!

The only thing that I can deduce is that your mother and sister have horrible taste! That ring is gorgeous!!!! It’s classic and exactly the style ring I love. I have a thin pave band and actually reset my thicker band ring to this style. You did an amazing job! Do not go to a chain store. Can you get the engraving fixed? Any jeweler should be able to polish it out and re-engrave I would imagine.
