We are in CA. My Fiance & I got our marriage license & had to select a name change if I wanted one when I filled out the form. I had selected to hyphenate mine with his because I have 2 sons who have my maiden name. After the clerk typed everything into the computer & handed us our official form for the officiant to complete, I noticed that the form now shows as 2 last names with no hyphen.
I’m so confusused… does it even matter? I don’t paricularly care, I just need to figure out what my name will be. LOL Can I use use 2 names? Seperately? hyphenated?
The form instructions specifically stated the following, but the paperwork has no hyphen:
Each party to the marriage may adopt any of the following last names:
♦Current last name of the other spouse
♦ Last name of either spouse given at birth
♦ A name combining into a single last name, all or a segment of the current last name or last name of either spouse given at birth
♦ A hyphenated combination of last names
