Soon2B-MrsC:  Why would you be crazy if you’ve already set a date together! You know he has the ring and I assume he knows you’re trying on dresses soon. You’re basically already engaged! I don’t understand how this could be stressful if you’re so sure he’s going to propose on a certain date in July. You should be excited! Enjoy it!

Soon2B-MrsC:  You have a date chosen that you mutually agreed upon? Congratulations! You’re engaged! 🙂

Soon2B-MrsC:  Nope. I don’t think so at all.  He wants to propose to you in person, but everything else to be ready prior.  My cousin got engaged very soon after her boyfriend (now husband) returned back from LDS mission and they married 6 months later, so it was a good thing that they had been planning (I don’t think a venue would have been able to be picked so soon if she hadn’t beforehand.

If you were planning all of this without his knowledge, then yeah that’s a little much, but it sounds like you’re planning together and already have a date. That means you’re engaged! Congrats! I hope the proposal is everything you hoped for. 🙂

Commenting in a thread that’s a couple of weeks old, oh well, but I’n curious if he has proposed by now!

As for being engaged “just” by talking and deciding to get married, set a date etc. without a ring and “proper” proposal… I have a funny story. One of my friends and her Boyfriend or Best Friend had a discussion about marriage and decided that they were both ready. She wanted to get married on the same date as her late grandparents because it was special to her, and he said yeah, let’s do it, in 2 years we might have everything together. A couple weeks later he says, out of the blue, “Hey, aren’t we engaged?” LOL and my friend was like “let’s look at rings together!” and he couldn’t wait to buy her one and call her his fiance.

You ate engaged. The ring is just jewelery and absolutely non-essential to the engagement.

“for Time and Eternity” is more important than a trip to a jewelry store.
