Wow I really would go to urgent care or something.

I used to hate the doctor but having to go all the time for health issues beats that out of you.  If you find a good one, it really isn’t that bad except for the waiting part.

Eh, 2-3 weeks is a long time to feel this.  If you didn’t injure it, I would suggest a doctor visit or even just a walk in clinic.

I worked with a podiatrist for years! Can I get a picture?

Btw, I would suggest you don’t wear flip flops or anything, maybe something with more support will help (gym shoes).  Also, try not to walk around barefoot.

Are you diabetic or pre-diabetic?

@UpstateCait: lol I hear ya..

Because of the location and coloring, it could be the beginning stage of an ulcer.

If the peeling / wound  keeps developing, definitely get it checked out. My podiatrist is located in the ” 518″ capital region of New York ( not sure where you are) . PM me if you would like the website or phone number of the office!

@UpstateCait: Could it be gout?? Usually men have it more than women, but I know a few women who have it as well. The same thing happens, their toe (or some part of their joints) swells up because they have too much uric acid in their body. But yeah, definitely visit the doctor because I’m no doctor, I’m just trying to think of what it might be. It’s typically genetic but eating red meat, drinking beer and what not can cause it to flare up.

Skin peeling off is normal when the skin has stretched from swelling, then the swelling goes down and no longer “fits” that stretched out skin.

@Heatherloveskenny:

I thought about gout too! not sure how she could manage walking on it unless its really minor. Gout comes on with no warning and should hurt to even put the sheets over your toe. Hmm…. yea depends what she ate too.

Have you been wearing new shoes?  Sometimes if I wear new shoes, my skin gets raw and if it’s putting pressure on the bone, maybe the surrounding tissue is bruised?

Just like everyone else, all doctors aren’t the same. There are awful ones, amazing ones, and everything in between. Don’t let your kneejerk reaction stop you from getting the care you need!  Ask people you trust for recommendations; that’s the best way to find a doc who treats you with respect (if that’s your concern).

Oh geez. That’s not normal. Put your big girl panties on and go to the doctor before your toe falls off or something. 😛
