I’m sorry to hear this! What don’t you like about them?  The scenes/poses, the coloring/editing?

If it’s the poses, could you bring some sample shots of poses you do like and ask the photographer to recreate those scenes as best as possible?

If it’s the editing/color…could you show her some examples of those types of photos you like (ex. rustic, bright colors, vintage, etc.)

It doesn’t sound like you can switch photographers unless you are willing to forfeit what you’ve already paid and pay them to NOT shoot your wedding.  I would be honest with them in a nice way about exactly what you would like to be done differently on your wedding day.

Did your e-pics turn out very different from the rest of the photographer’s portfolio?

@MadTownGirl:  This.

OP can you post some of your EPics so we can tell you what we think? Sometimes we are hard on ourselves and it helps getting an outside opinion.

I would talk with them and try and cancel. Speaking from experience, both sides know when it is not working. Honesty is the best approach. If you try and change their style or editing, chances are it will probably only get worse. This is the reason why I encourage all of my clients to get their engagement pics done early, and I try and have a couple of meetings with them beforehand, just to make sure that we are compatible in all phases. (Sorry, I know that does not help you OP, but might help others.) It is kind of late in the game to find a new photographer that is not booked. You will have to make a quick decision on this one, so that you have as much time as possible.

Before you talk about cancelling… WHY don’t you like your photographer? Do you not like how your photographer worked with you at the shoot? The photos themselves? & what about the photos?

Can you post some of your epics so we can see them?

Communicate with the photographer and express whatever concerns you have.  This may re-route you to a course of good photos with them.  Or they may not want to continue with a client who is not confident in their work.  I wouldn’t expect to get back whatever retainer you paid them though.
