I was pretttttttttty sure my fiance was going to propose on the day that he did. So I mean it wasn’t a suprise… BUT still, regardless of being aware it was coming, I literally did not remember a single thing my fiance said to me while he was asking me to marry him. I was just shocked; my heart was beating so fast and I was just staring at him, on the verge of crying..so very happy and just amazed. I do remember what he said BEFORE he got on his knee but then once he got on his knee and pulled out the ring and said a bunch more stuff – I just didn’t hear any of it! I’m wondering if this happened to anyone else???? Were you so shocked and happy that you didn’t hear your fiance propose to you?
TBH, this doesn’t really bother me because it makes the moment a little more special (since nothing like that has EVER happened to me.) It was the best moment of my life so far 🙂 We also have pictures of the proposal which was really helpful. Any bees who aren’t engaged yet — definitely let your fiance know ahead of time that you would like pictures of your proposal. I actually never told him I wanted pictures of it, he did it all on his own and I am so happy that he did.

Same here! My Fiance and I decided in the car one night to get engaged so when we went inside he got on one knee and gave me the ring and I have no idea what was said. I was crying like a baby even though we decided like 20 minutes before! Haha

I even knew it was happening, and it’s still pretty fuzzy. Luckily I remember enough to tell people! I’m sure it’ll be like our first kiss and I’ll piece it back together over time.

Yup. As soon as he pulled out the ring box, I went into shock. I remember thinking, “remember what’s he’s saying! It’s so sweet and lovely!”, but I cannot remember a word of it.
I was just totally in shock.
I hear it’s pretty common, actually.

I don’t remember. Maybe 10 minutes after it was done, he said he didn’t remember either!

Mine didn’t say anything, he made a video- I couldn’t remember anything other than my name and ‘will you marry me?’ so I watched it again the following morning and wrote it down for my proposal story on here so I didn’t have to forget it again! 🙂

Lol I actually asked him the other day what he said because I don’t remember a thing. I remember right before and after, but nothing he actually said when he proposed.

Hi bees, first time posting!
My wonderul Fiance completely took me by surprise. We were away in another state at the time and I just remember him going down on one knee at a restaurant that night. I was in shock and lent down and said “what’s happening”. He spoke for around a minute and I don’t remember any of it. All I remember is crying and crying. I knew we would be married one day but I just never imagined the proposal would be as beautiful as it was.

Mine said “It’s a hat!” because he panicked, and the box was shaped like a hat. And I threated to puke on him if he got down on one knee because I panicked.
We’re not super-romantic.

I didn’t cry when we got engaged. It was SO overdue that I had basically lost all enthusiasm for it ever happening. i figured he wouldn’t. But I figured it out the night before, and it was more relief than shock/surprise. When he did propose…he chose to do it on a 95 degree day in a park with zero shade. My face felt like it was melting off it was so humid. He was equally as miserable. Something I’ve noticed men do: they get tunnel vision. A lot. “I am going to propose like X.” BUT WHY DIDN’T YOU CHECK THE WEATHER?!?!
I think he said something about “I can’t see myself spending my life with anyone but you,” and “I love you so much.” Mostly it was the look on his face – that kind of look when you can tell they’re stricken stupid by you? – that I remember.
It’s a proposal I can laugh about now, but when we got in the car after drenched in sweat after 10 minutes, it wasn’t as fun. I think it’s normal not to remember what was said…it’s not as emotionally impacting as the proposal itself.
For what it’s worth, he doesn’t remember what he said either.
