I wasn’t motivated by my wedding to lose weight. I had a good 20 pounds to lose. Then I got pregnant (on purpose) a few weeks after the wedding. It was when DS was 9 months old and I was still up 20 from my pre-preg weight that I finally said enough was enough.

I started tracking every calorie I consumed in MyFitnessPal. I lost 25 pounds in the first three months, theld maintained for a while so I could train for a half marathon, and then this fall I lost another 30 pounds, so I am down almost 60 pounds in one year.

Just because you didn’t lose weight for your wedding doesn’t mean you won’t ever lose it. And you certainly CAN lose weight if you find the motivation. Track what you eat. Ultimately it is your daily net calories that will determine your weight loss. There are to a of resources and tips out there.

@curlywurly88:  LOVE that website!! I’ve already lost 13 pounds using it on my Iphone!!!

@Ryansgirl:  First of all, RUDE and secondly, WRONG. You can totally do it. Let me be honest, I’ve been “trying” to lose weight for like 5 years and all I’ve been doing is slowly but surely going up, up, up! In 5 years, I gained about 25 pounds! Anyway, I would go on a mad, crash diet, and then get discouraged after like.. a week and stop. I literally NEVER thought that I would lose weight. Anyway, I started using myfitnesspal app on my IPhone and track EVERY SINGLE CALORIE that I take in and I’ve lost 13 pounds in two months. You CAN lose weight (honestly, if I did, you can). My advice: Track your calories, do an easy work out routine (Couch to 5K was excellent and easy for a SUPER unfit person like me), GET A WEIGHT LOSS PARTNER (most important advice), weigh yourself ONLY once a week, always at the same time on the same day and wabam! You lose weight!!!!

ETA: I agree that weight loss is a life style change and not a diet, but I disagree that you need to 100% change how you eat. Doing that is what always made me fail in the past. Of course, I try to eat more fruits and veggies but I WILL NOT give up white bread or frosted flakes (empty calories, YUM) and THAT’S OKAY as long as I count those calories and only eat my alloted amt per day! GOOD LUCK!!

@FutureMRS3lastnames:  I completely agree, I could never live without bread lol (much to the horror of a very good friend of mine)! But as long as you allocate the calories for it you’ll be fine :). I’ve actually found that after a while of eating clean the appeal of the most wholesome of foods, greasy chip shop chips (thick cut fries to our American friends?) goes away. And its always good to have a treat meal every now and then (mine is usually a full fat creamy indian takeaway …drool) – I can still eat what I love and still lose weight !
