I love Cake Wrecks. We went to a signing a couple weeks ago and Jen is just as hilarious in person. I hope those couples have been able to laugh about those cakes after the wedding…pretty sad though.

@Mrs.SplatterPaint: That’s awful! 🙁  I’m sorry.

One of my favs is the tartan cake:

The baker seriously claimed that the cake just melted a little. Uh…

This thread reminds me of this gallery image: http://gallery.weddingbee.com/photo/the-monster-cake

We did cupcakes and a cake from a respected bakery in Milwaukee. We paid alot for it. It was well worth the price. They did exactly as I envisioned my cake and cupcakes would like it.

@MrsBroccoli:  Please forgive my completely nosey request, but I’ve always wondered how expensive they are – you dont’ have to share if you dont want to!

@MrsBroccoli: SO JEALOUS!

I’m making our cake and keeping it VERY simple (five square tiers with simple fondant, gold lustre and red ribbons). I’m a good baker and decorator so I should be okay.

OMG this is really scary Frown. The one with the yellow roses on top makes me really sad, can you imagine how that poor bride felt?

Oh man, I’d love to see more photos of real Bees inspiration photos versus real photos. It’s cool to see the variation!

The tartan one is god-awful. I think my dog could do better.

Our cake was actually one of the things we were most happy with. Our baker had tons of pics on her sight of past cakes, and she and I must have been on the same wavelength when we discussed, because it came out perfectly. Anyone in the Dubuque, IA area ever need a cake, PM me and I’ll give her info. She was the easiest vendor to work with and we literally have not even the tiniest complaint.

These are hilarious!  (Of course, I feel bad for people who had to deal with these terrible cakes, but it makes me chuckle to picture any bakery trying to present these wrecks to their client!  I’d be so humiliated if I was the baker behind any of these cakes…)

I have never looked at this site before, but I will have to start now.

I’ve now been looking at the Cakewrecks blgo, holy crap.  I am SO glad we opted for cupcakes lol.  We do have a cutting cake also, but at worst, if it’s terrible, we just won’t put it out and will cut a cupcake instead.

I really got scared for a second thinking about how I just showed my bakery a cake inspiration and they were like “sure, no problem.”  I started to think that was a really bad idea.  But they do have a amazingly good tasting cake (I’ve got their cupcakes a bunch of times since the tasting because they’re so good).  So even if it look like the yellow flowers cake I’ll just close my eyes and eat it.
