I don’t wear earrings.

I got my ears pierced when I was younger and always developed an infection.  We tried cheap metals, hypoallergenic metals, real gold…nothing helped.  My holes STILL haven’t closed so I can wear earrings if I really want…but within a couple hours my ears are red.  Makes me so sad sometimes.  Usually it bugs Darling Husband more because it’s one less “common” gift he can get me.  Haha.

That’s weird that people find it such a big deal for you though.

I have my ears pierced and like the thought of earings, but I only wear them maybe once a month. They hurt my earlobes and unless they’re studs they get caught in my hair. I’ll wear some studs for my wedding, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with you not wanting to wear earings. Stick to your guns!

Haha I’m the opposite! I wear earrings EVERY day, even if I’m just staying at home! I wear round CZ studs 95% of the time and it’s just part of my routine and my “look” that I’m used to! There’s nothing wrong with not wearing them though 🙂

Two words: statement necklace. Then no one will even be thinking about earrings.

Wear what you want! If you’re not comfortable with them, then you’re okay.

I kinda don’t understand because earrings are one of my favorite things in the world. 🙂 Really. I buy a few new pairs every month. I don’t look right if I’m not wearing them. I don’t feel polished, put together, or even dressed without them.

I LOVE earrings and wear them every day, but I don’t think it’s wear people not wanting to wear them, it’s an accessory, I don’t wear belts and no one makes a big deal out of it.

I used to wear the studs they used for piercing ears all the time except for special occassions because my ears got infected so quickly.  Then I started having problems with rashes (either ezcema or psoriasis or maybe both) around my ears, including the lobes.  I gave up wearing them.  I did manage to stick in a pair for the wedding (if my holes had closed I wouldn’t have bothered).  I do think that earrings look better than no earrings when all dressed up, but I’ve never commented on someone who doesn’t wear earrings, nor has anyone asked me.

I’ve NEVER even had my ears pierced lol.  In fact, I had a bf in college break up with me because I wasn’t “feminine” enough b/c my ears weren’t pierced.  WHATEVER!!  I could never play sports w/ them in anyway, so I never even thought to get them pierced.  I STILL don’t want them pierced!  My best friend just got married and pierced her ears solely for the wedding.  Get outta here with that lol.

I am on YOUR SIDE!!  What’s the big deal with NOT having your ears pierced?  It’s just not my thing, either lol.  And I certainly don’t plan on having them done for my wedding!  Earring-less women UNITE!  Wink

It’s no one’s business what you wear or don’t wear. Don’t bring up the topic if you don’t like people’s reactions. I have pierced ears but I rarely wear earrings. No particular reason though. My mom has never had hers pierced and has no desire to. No one has ever forced her to get them pierced either. Most people don’t make it an issue if someone wears earrings or doesn’t (and the same applies for any other accessory).

@Pinksapphire:  My coworkers have been hassling me, too.  “You should pierce your ears for the wedding!”, “What do you mean you’ve never had your ears pierced?!  You have to do it!”  I don’t have to do anything, thank you very much!  Sheesh!  I’m not a real glitzy makeup-y “prettyful” person, anyway.  I think earrings would cramp my lazy style.  Also, I have big ears, and I don’t really want to draw any attention to them Embarassed

You can change the subject and not have to say anything to avoid the drama that comes with it.

while earrings are my must have jewelry on a daily basis, i don’t think i would ever react that to someone who told me they don’t wear earrings! it seems normal to me.  maybe because my mom never had pierced ears?  and Oprah didn’t get them pierced till she was in her 40s or 50s….and might have been due to peer pressure!
