Wanted to follow up on a thread I started after a horrid experience a few weekends ago.

I Feel bad – but I had an AWFUL guest experience!
I saw the groom this morning. We went surfing with some other friends of ours. Afterwards, as we were loading the boards on the car, we talked about going out and he was like, “Oh, I’d love too, but I’ve got to get home and start writing a letter to the caterer.”
He then proceeded to go on and tell me that not only was it 3-4 tables… it was 6-9 tables didn’t get to EAT! Not only that, but the Strawberries were missing, they ran out of water, and the “plentiful passed apps” were non-existent.
He also mentioned that they had told the caterer 219 for the final count and 190 showed up so they were also pretty under the count.
I still feel bad they are dealing with this, but I’m SO HAPPY to learn that they are going to be demanding a huge chunk of money back!
On the flip side, about a week ago we were able to lock in to our caterer, one I’ve seen and tasted first hand who is amazing. I’m paying a great deal more than I hoped too, but the peace of mind can be priceless as well.
No one should have what happened to our friends happen to them.

I am so glad to learn that your friends will be demanding their money back. That catering company stiffed them, and there’s no two ways about it. Thanks for the update!

Oh good! Well… sort of good. It’s great that they will hopefully be getting their money back, but it totally sucks that this happened to them… and they definitely know how miserable a lot of their guests were at their wedding b/c of the catering situation 🙁 I hope your friends write up some really nasty online reviews of these caterers so that everyone out there will know not to hire them!

Phew!!! That was a tough situation! WOW, I definitely hope they get compensation!! And I hope that they do not feel too bad. And you didn’t have to say a word! Yay!! I hope nobody here hires that caterer!!!!

I’m glad they are trying to get compensation, although it sounds doubtful that will happen. I think the best thing you and your friends can do (especially with you being in the business) is write multiple bad reviews about them on several websites so this does not happen to someone else. What a shame, seriously running out of water? I would have had a field day. That really sucks.
