Is there a chance you can do something small this weekend to make up for such a lousy one yesterday?

I get sad when someone has a bad birthday because I’ve experienced them one too many times.  Or when parents side with other sibilings and make someone else feel like a black sheep.

Bad birthdays can suck, and it’s hard when your family are the people casuing the problems on it.  Siblings are hard to deal with sometimes, and if they’re used to getting their way they’re not going to change easily now.  I hope after you guys et some more financial stability you’re able to find your own place, where you will be more able to set your own rules… at the parents’ house it’s kinda hard, as it’s their place, so their children run amok as they’ve been allowed their whole lives.  At least when you guys are in your own place, eventually, you can be more assertive without worrying about offending the parents so much, and even choose if you want to be “avaialbe” to provide them with free beer and someone to criticize.

Surprise your Fiance with a cake or nice night out if you can this coming week, after the snow abates a bit and travel is easier.  At least you can actually surprise him since it won’t be on the actual birthday – you say you “rescheduled” his birthday on account of the weather, and maybe get ahold of some friends to round things out and just have a good time.

@SweetRose2011: what’s laser questing?  It sounds like it involves a laser and a dragon 😛

I have a brother that does that…but he isn’t so rude consistently. He just gets offensive.

I am not sure if I would have rudeness all day or madly offensive once.

Get beer that he detests next time. Like…chick beer. Or something.

lol – that’s mildly passive agressive, but might work, especially while in the parents’ house.

Aww I am sorry your Fiance had a bad birthday. They comes once a year and if they suck, it kinda hurts. Please do something for him this Saturday. He will LOVE IT!!!!

My FI’s family is kinda like your FI’s family. My Fiance has not celebrated any b’day since he was maybe 2 or 3 years old. (Even that is pushing it!) He had no cake, no party, no special ‘going out with family’ night, etc. NOTHING. When I met him, I made it a point to make cake EVERY year. I bake it myself every year and he appreciates that more. I don’t think he can imagine having a b’day in the future without a cake. Guys do tend to appreciate these things (but definitely in fewer words). That’s going to put a HUGE smile on his face for sure.
