- Wedding: November 2013
A long-time friend of mine recently got married and I was invited to her wedding, which was 5 hours away from where I live. My fiance was unable to go with me so my mom went with me instead (after I asked the bride if it was ok with her if I brought someone different other than who was on the invitation). My fiance was out of town that day for work and I was unable to find someone to come by and take care of my dog while I was away. We decided to stay for the ceremony and then leave after speaking with the bride and groom for a few minutes (which took forever to get to because of pictures). I sent her a message a couple weeks later and apologized for having to leave early and explained my situation to her but I can’t help but feel absolutely terrible. She said that she did wish I could have stayed but understood. I feel like I was totally rude. But I also feel like we came for the most important part. Also, there wasn’t a single other person we knew. It was all her and his family members which was around 30 people and then my mom and me. Another thing… She knew I wasn’t going to eat dinner because my fiance and I are vegan and they had BBQ for dinner so money wasn’t wasted on us. Should I feel this bad about it?
