If she doesnt help you after the next email, I would say things like well I bet the news would love to cover a story about your store and how you are ripping off brides. Or maybe you can throw in, I will have to speak with my lawyer.

@BridetoBee52:  I totallly commend you for remaining so calm in your email to her…..I would have been not so nice!! It doesn’t sound like from your conversation with her that she is willing to budge thou and I think calling your credit card and stopping payment is a must!

What a shady situation. Absolutely make sure all correspondence is in writing and keep copies. She can threaten to talk to her lawyer til the cows come home but she is legally on the wrong side of the law here.

Wow. You are much more patient then I am. I would’ve been cursing her out already at this point and lawyered up getting ready to sue her for everything shes got for fraud.

@BridetoBee52:  You are taking this way too lightly. You should be on the phone with a lawyer (or your FI!) and get this resolved! You are not the only one this is happening to. PS…please update us with the store name!

@BridetoBee52:  Someone posted a link that proves cutting out tags is illegal.  At least there is some validity in your case if you do small claims court for the refund.  I would probably consider that if she cannot refund you.  She lied about the brand, cut the tags out and marked up the price!

Are the two brands even remotely similar looking?

It’s not illegal to sell a sample for more than the price of a new dress.  However, it is illegal to claim a dress is one brand/style when it is actually another.  Your best bet is probably to get a complete refund, and buy the dress elsewhere.

@BridetoBee52:  Wow, you are being amazingly levelheaded about this and I’m impressed! If this obviously insane woman refuses to give you a full refund, I would print out that cutting out the tags is illegal, it is illegal to pass off one dress for another and that it is just bad business practices to be putting you through this. Let you her know you aren’t afraid to go to the media about this. Hopefully that would change her mind REAL quick. If yyou make it public knowledge that this woman is shady and shamming brides, she will either go out of business or tune up really quickly! Good luck and I hope this gets resolved before it gets messy!!

Passing the dress off as something else is fraudulent, and unethical, stop the payment immediately, find a dress elsewhere, don’t continue business with this woman. You’ll be sorry, she is misleading and unprofessional, you don’t want that headache.
