So I had a fiasco with DB and my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses on Monday that forced me and my BM’s to do a very quick order of their dresses because the store and order from only a few sizes that were available (literaly only 4 different sizes were available) The store said “you won’t be able to order that dress after wednesday.” Well I’m on the site, a day after they said I could no longer order the dress… and it’s 50% off. I understand that it’s on clearance now.. but seriously I just called a different store and they said the same sizes were still available in my color WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone please tell me there is a logical reason for this.

The dress was probably being discontinued so they could no longer guarantee the sizes and colors after that specific date. It just so happens that the sizes that you need are still available but I don’t know if the store would have had any way of knowing that.

I can’t speak for DB specifcally, but when I worked for Nordstrom, store inventory and online inventory were completely different – different buyers, different markdown schedule, different everything.

Dress Disaster! I spent all day crying (long)

Do sales associates at DB work on commission? If yes, I could see why they would push you to order prior to the dresses being marked down by 50%. It doesn’t make sense though that they would limit the sizes in that case – so I have a feeling that UpstateCait is onto something when she suggests that they were likely told that the sizes couldn’t be guaranteed after discontinuation!

@MsMindle: Yeah they totally do work on commisions. I would rather pull my own teeth out one by one then ever make another purchase at DB ever again.
