I think you probably need to have a sober discussion that involves talk of you moving to the same city as him and what that means for your relationship. I think its nice you had some talk of it, but you dont know how much of it he remembers and whether he put it down as ‘one day’ talk.

Good luck

This is just my opinion, of course, but it sounds like he does care about you deeply and that he also wants the commitment. Even though you were drunk, I get the impression he was being sincere if he seemed so relieved to hear you say you’d want to marry him. It suggests he’s thought about it before that one night, otherwise where would the relief (albeit drunk) come from?

Could it be that he is a logical, calculated person and has been taking the time to find the right ring and the right time to do it? Perhaps he is looking to get the commitment of you moving in with him before he takes the next step? Also, if you want to be together and you’re sure of it, perhaps it doesn’t matter if the next step is to move in. Perhaps it’s even wise to give that a try first. It may be a lot for you to sacrifice, but if it doesn’t end up working out, it will still be fine. Life has a way of throwing these big decisions at us. My Fiance moved to the other side of the Atlantic with me after 9 months of dating (I had already made plans) and we had no ideas of engagement at the time. A big risk for him (and us), to say the least! He was 27, I was 23.

But as CupcakeLove suggested, it also may be a good idea to have a talk with him about where the both of you see your future heading if you moved out there.
