@FutureMrsRusaw:  I would totally start shopping now! I’m a Sept 2014 girl, but I’m starting in June, I just don’t know how long it will take to find the one! You could start looking casually now and buy in August 🙂

@FutureMrsRusaw:  All I know is depending upon how much diy you plan on doing, it could take you longer to them then you thought.

@FutureMrsRusaw:  Ah, I hadn’t considered that! I know you want to get as close to your weight as possible, but keep in mind if you’re not buying off the rack, it could still take 6 months or more depending on the designer.  What an amazing achievement, my hat is off to you!

I’m not a March 2014 girl but I am a June 2014 one so I get what you’re saying! I have SO many things to DIY and fall/spring are really busy times for me with school so I’ve already started! Yeah it stinks to store it all (I don’t have much room at my place, but my lovely parents are letting me store stuff at their place), but it will help spread the stress out over a long time and gives me a safety net if something goes wrong or takes longer than I expected. I would definitely recommend you start your DIY stuff as early as possible because the closer you get to your wedding, the more stressed you’ll be, and you don’t want to add DIY stress to the normal stress! Good luck and happy planning! 🙂

I saw where you said you won’t start looking for a gown until August.  You might need to start looking for dresses now, b/c it could be a long process depending on how picky or indecisive you are (from my own personal experience).  Plus most gowns will take 6-8months to arrive back at the bridal shop after ordering it.  If you look and don’t order in August you may not get the dress you want w/o paying an extra rush fee. Unless you are going to a bridal chain shop that can get you your dress in a matter of 12 weeks or less.

In regards to buying centerpieces.  I have went to hobby lobby numerous times and returned numerous items b/c I started early…but only by a year.  I know they are tired of seeing me…lol!  I recently returned centerpiece materials b/c a co-worker gave me 16 open ended hurricane vases for free.  But of course I ended up buying something else there that day.  I can’t help myself…hobby lobby sales are amazing!

My dress took 7 months to come in, and that was once I found it, so I’d start looking now and just get it altered smaller if you lose weight!

Other than that, you could do some research into other vendors – florists, stationairy, hair, makeup, jewellery, decor hire, photography, musicians or djs, songs for ceremony and reception, cake, etc. It took us a while to hear back from everyone and compare quotes and choose our vendors.

I picked out my ladies dresses in Dec or so I thought I did but now I’m reconsidering after I had a few to try them on this month so I’m back in the looking phase for bm dresses but I have to find something quick because like the previous bee’s have said I have to have them order no later than October because most places it takes 8-12 weeks for the dresses to get in and then some will probably have to be alter. That way also I will know exactly who is in it and who isn’t. You have alot of ones agreeing up into its time to get their dress and then they come up with all kind of excuses why they haven’t ordered their dress yet. Them kinds will be replaced quickly!!!

BTW I have paid deposit for photography, reception venue, and caters. Asked the officiant, and will be taking e-pic on the 9th of June and sending out std in July.

I started doing all my mock ups fairly early so I was prepared and could purchase items I needed as they went on sale. My wedding is August and I still havent started all the DIY other than the invites which were sent out this week.

Start getting your vision together and shop around for prices. Work on your mock ups so you can see your vision and then you have lots of time to tweak it if you need to. I found some fantastic sales and collected coupons as well to try and save as much as possible.

I also purchased big cardboard boxes from Ikea like this…… so I could store all of the wedidng related items so their out of sight but in a central location so I know where to look for something when I need it.

@FutureMrsRusaw:  day twins! i’ve planned a lot so far because I was afraid i’d lose out on the recommended vendors from both my venue and well, other vendors.

I got ordered my dress in March, and booekd my dj, photog and videog pretty early because those those are very important to me.

I’ve been slacking on the rest because around me there are 500 florists and I’m not too worried about that. My June goals are to seek out florists and officiants and I am hoping to pick out BM dresses in July or August. My philosophy is to get the big stuff out of the way so that I can focus on all those little details towards the last 6 months of my engagement.

Good luck 🙂
