I have a part time job, i dont really like what i do there but the benefits are great. My dh is always telling me to quit. My is sick, and is on a medication that most insurance will not cover. We got a sticker shot. His medication will cost 3k monthy, meaning 36k yearly, the great news is that all is paid by my part time job, now he is not telling me to quit. I feel lucky that we have that part time!

@brokeninnj: Funny how that works isn’t it? I didn’t have insurance for a few years bc I was a temp…I finally got taken on perm after 2 1/2 years with the company and got insurance and about 6 months later I was in a really bad accident. I had to be airlifted to the hospital and was in there for 3 nights…the bill for the hospital room alone was over 40k…then the bills came in for the pain meds, the procedures that were done, each and every seperate dr (surgeon, trauma, anesthesia, ect) started coming in…the bills were insane. Out of the 40k for the hospital room, i only ended up paying a couple grand…and same thing with the doctors…all i could say was thank goodness I had insurance. After that experience I made sure my FI signed up for insurance…he doesn’t get sick so he never had it…but after that whole thing, he didn’t even argue when I asked him to get it. It still took me over a year to pay off all the medical bills (plus over a year of treatments…still going to doctor visits and checkups even now) but it could have been so much worse to get out of had i not been covered. Yay for insurance! I’m so glad that your insurance covers the medication too!

I feel the same way but on a much much smaller scale! I broke my foot a couple months ago (it’s still healing) & even though I’ve had to pay almost $1000 out of pocket, it’d be double or more. I’d only had insurance for 5 months at the time so I’m really thankful too!
