Ladies! I’ve seen SO many wonderful DIY invites with all types of different paper, so creative and lovely. Invites are definitely not very high on my priority list but I always love the feeling of opening a really awesome wedding invite!
So, I have a stupid question. I understand you can buy the materials and the paper etc. HOW do you type and print on the paper? Like…I just don’t understand HOW to do it. Do you need certain paper, certain computer, a certain printer?? Lol. I desperately want to be creative but I need guidance lol. I have good ideas I just dont think I know how to execute -__- Advice for a dummy! Anyoooone?

@MissTX: I think if you’re really skilled, you could design them yourself from scratch on the computer and just set the demensions so that it’ll print correctly on your paper. But I think most people buy DIY templates to use to make their invitations. I know lots of bees have done DIY invites, so they’ll probably be more help than me.

I’ve done invites for a few friends…
The first time I ordered the paper from paperandmore.com, a white card stock and then a red metallic card stock for the backer, pre-cut to 5 x 7. The white card stock I ran through my printer, 2 invites per sheet and then hand-cut them out to 4.5 x 6.5 (when i printed them i put a thin yellow line around each so they were easy to cut). The bridesmaids got together and taped them together. She also used envelopes from paperandmore.
2nd time I just had them printed through an online printer. To me it’s so much easier because you don’t have to buy ink or hand-cut all the invites. We used http://www.printplace.com – they have paper options and you can custom size the invites. She did the same with a red metallic backer. I also recomend overnightprints.com for cheap printing.
I’m a designer by profession so it was easy for me to design their invites in illustrator… but I’m sure there are other programs you could use.
Good luck! I’m still working on my own DIY invites which are proving to be a challenge for me coming up with a design! 🙂
