Invitation shopping has been hard for us. Our wedding is going to be simple, but the ceremony and reception at both in somewhat formal locations (the ceremony will be at the State Capitol building, and the reception is in an upstairs loft at a downtown restaurant). We don’t have (or really want) a theme, and we’ll be doing little in the way of decorating because, well, we just aren’t very interested in decorations. Invitations we saw were either too themey, too elaborate, too cheesy, or or too expensive for us. BUT…I found these on weddingpaperdivas.com today:
I LOVE them. We’ll get them in a custom green color, with a reception card and an RSVP card. I’d like to find a way to put them all together other than a pocketfold. I thought maybe a belly band of some type, but do you think that would look odd with the vertical stripe on the invites (the enclosure cards will have the same stripe). Any other ideas? I CAN go with pocketfolds if I need to, I was just trying to use a little less paper so that I can still pretend that we are being ecologically sound for our wedding….

I think they would look very classy with a belly band, especially if you match the colors. Are the stripes all going to be the same width, or proportional to the insert? In any case, I think they’re great!

I used that same template for our wedding website. All of the other website templates were so frilly and overly-decorated. I love the simplicity!

@afbacher: I think the stripes are proportional. Are you thinking the belly band will look best vertical as opposed to horizontal? If I could find a modern print with my colors that would be awesome, but I bet I end up with a solid.
@dana: that is awsome!

I love the simplicity, too!

I think a porportionally-sized belly band (horizontal) would look nice. Knowing my issues with matching, I’d probably try to find something with a simple design, like swirls, incorporating the green you’ve chosen, so it doesn’t look too much like a cross. I LOVE the simplicity of what you’ve chosen! Great job!

You could use a simple twine or ribbon as a belly band too. I think the invites look great!

i think you should place the invite and enclosures into a translucent inner envelope, close it with a bellyband/twine/ribbon and a wax seal and place that in an outer envelope.
Just a thought! 😀

i love those!!
i wouldn’t go too buck with extra stuff – the simplicity of the invite is what makes it so eye catching. if anything i would place a horizontal ribbon around the top half or some sort of small simple embelishment in the top right hand corner.
