I forgot to take it last night, so the instructions say to take it the next day (tonight) along with the pill for the day (if that made sense) anyway…I am an hour late for taking it tonight…oh boy 🙂

An hour isn’t too bad. Do you have a reminder in your phone to take it everyday? That’s what I do.

I was so bad at taking the pill at the same time. I was happy if I was within 3 hours. haha. I do FAM now, but I wouldn’t worry at all about being an hour late unless you’re doing progesterone only pills.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I work night shifts and when I was taking the Pill sometimes I’d forget it until the next morning.

Depending on teh type of birth control pill you’re on, you have a bit of wiggle room for when you take your birth control pill. An hour is fine for any birth control pill. When in doubt, either avoid intercourse for a few days or use a back up method.

I was on the pill for 8 years and I rarely remembered to take it at the same time everyday. Maybe I got lucky, but I never had a scare.

@peachbaby4008: as PPs said, an hour isn’t bad. If you totally forgot it yesterday I’d use a backup method for a week (that’s what I’ve done).

Hour isn’t bad at all. =) You’ll be okay unless you continually skip days.

My BCP says that if you forget a day, take it as soon as you remember, but no back up BC is needed. It only suggests back up if you miss two days within a month. But you should check into your kind of BCP first.
And I think an hour is still in a decent time frame, but if you’re concerned you could use back up just to feel better.

The guidelines vary depending on what pill you are on. With most monophasic combined pills (like microgynon), you now have a 24 hour window; so provided you take your pill within 24 hours, you are still covered. If you are later than 24 hours taking it, this is classed as a missed pill, but you can miss up to 2 pills in any one packet; any more and you must use an alternative method of contraception for 7 days. Usually though you should take a missed pill as soon as you remember; you’re not supposed to wait (I don’t know if this is different for pills that aren’t monophasic)
If you are at all unsure, then abstain or use condoms for the next 7 days. The guidelines were different when I first went on it 9 years ago, so I tend to follow the ‘old school’ guidelines because I’m very paranoid :-s

You are totally fine, you’re only supposed to use back up birth control if you miss 2 pills in a row. If would make you feel better, just use a condom this week.
