I went to my doctor and she doesn’t feel there needs to be any major concern. She thinks my lymphnode is inflamed. She also said that if it were malignant it wouldn’t be sore (one bee mentioned that) and she wouldn’t be able to move it around as she was.
She said to monitor it for month and if it doesn’t go away or continues to be sore we will do a sonogram.
So, I’m cool with this information and I do feel better. Fiance thinks I should get the sonogram now (which she offered if I wanted it) but I kind of feel that if she isn’t overly concerned then I shouldn’t be either.
PS: Thanks for all of your words earlier because I was definitely a bit freaked out.

I had a similar situation last year. I went to my Gyne/Nurse Practitioner and she referred me to an imaging center. I had an ultrasound and it turned out to be nothing. (in fact, the radiologist said “Well, you’re not due for a mammogram for another 24 years, so… put that in your Blackberry.” 🙂
I would get the ultrasound now just to get it out of the way and off my mind (and, perhaps, off your fiance’s mind too? He’s probably just as worried about you!)

DUH…I said sonogram but completely meant ultrasound. Sorry.

I say get the sonogram! I have heard to many stories of people being told its nothing to finding it out years later it was something malignant all along…better safe than sorry 🙂

Glad to hear they aren’t concerned. You have a lot of lymph nodes in your armpit area.
My concern is this though: She also said that if it were malignant it wouldn’t be sore (one bee mentioned that).
I just want to clarify that I do not believe this to be true. I don’t know if there is medical fact stating this or not, but when I had a swollen painful lymphnode (along my collarbone) unfortunately it was not benign.
Please do not hesitate to go to the doctor ladies! And don’t be afraid to push your doctors if you really think something is wrong.

Working in the medical field, I always say get a second opinion!

aww good i’m glad to hear that it was okay with your doc! i think you prolly had the same thing i went through.. the soreness does go away and eventually i hope your lump will too; (mine was not a lump, but more swelling)
if it really doesn’t get better i think you can go back in a few weeks to get the sonogram done!

I think I will call for the ultrasound. You’re right. It’s better to be 100% certain then not.

I would get the ultrasound done to be safe. I’m glad that they think it isn’t anything though.

I’m glad you decided to get the ultrasound to be safe. I went in to see my doctor because I was concerned about a lump in my neck and my doctor didn’t seem to be concerned about it…the odd thing is that she somehow tried to relate it to acid reflux! She said to monitor it for a month and if it got larger she would perform an ultrasound on my neck. The size didn’t change over the next month, so I never bothered to follow up with her. Sometimes doctors make me feel like I’m crazy so it just makes me not want to even bother. If I could go back, I would have insisted on that ultrasound sooner. So, I’m glad you are pushing this with your doctor!

I’d get the ultrasound just for piece of mind now. Why wait 30 days to find out what you can find out today? You’re just fine. 🙂 Congrats!
