marmar13 :  I was in a similar mindset of “I could never spend $1000 on a dress! That’s crazy!” But the dress I fell madly in love with retails for around $7500 and I had the money in the budget (our venue was free), so screw it. 😛

I say go for the $5400 dress if your only real hesitation is originally thinking you wouldn’t spend much.

Mine was $1700 without alterations. Actually wait that included accessories. I think it was like $1500 USD alone.

bretagne422 :  You are so right thank you! Basically the advice I gave to the OP that I should be following myself 🙂

I am still not 100% sure because my wedding isnt until 2018 so I have plently of time and want to enjoy the shopping experience a bit more, but if that one is “it”, I think I am just goign to have to go for it!

Also, I would love to see the dress you chose!!

sarbear7777777 :  our budget for dress + alterations was £900. Of COURSE I have doubled the budget….WOOPS! Luckily for me my fiancé was really understanding about it and said we only have one wedding and it needs to be right. Aaaaaaand that is one of the many many reasons I am marrying him ❤

marmar13 :  Exactly. Once you figure out a venue, a guest list, and a budget, if you find that you can get the dress, you should! The good news is that you have plenty of time to look around, so if you aren’t able to find anything comparable, you’ll probably be a lot more comfortable spending that much.

I don’t have a picture of me in the dress yet, but this is it. It’s Natalie by Sareh Nouri.

bretagne422 :  gorgeousssss!!! Love it so much and glad you found your perfect dress!

We already have a lot of that stuff in place- our parents are basically splitting the costs between the two of them and a dress was budgeted into that. This would be more, but based on the way my mom was talking, there was some extra money that this dress was coming from, so we shall see. not making any decisions yet!

My budget was originally $2500 but then I realistically brought it down to $1500-$2000.  I paid $1900 after taxes but still have alterations.  I’ll probably still come in at $2500 after everything is said and done.

My dress was $699, plus tax. It was originally $1,399, but since it was a floor model, I got it half price 🙂 Next up- alterations!!

marmar13 :  Thanks! That’s awesome. Either you’ll have enough money for it, or you’ll find something for less and get to save the money. Sounds like a win-win situation.

futuremrsferrell :  Sure! I don’t want to bomb this thread with the same picture, but I posted it for marmar13 a few posts up. It’s the one by Sareh Nouri.
