Although my wedding is a year away, I decided to go ahead and purchase my dress which I absolutely love! After quite a few appointments, I found this lovely 2015 Kenneth Winston and I didn’t want to take it off. It wasn’t really at all what I thought I was looking for, as I’ve been trying to find a gown that is completely lace, or a gown with long sleeves. Though as I learned, long sleeve dresses are hard to find because apparently they’re not so in style atm.
At the store where I tried it on, I didn’t exactly have a great experience. The lady was extremely pressuring, telling me I should buy it that day because it will most likely be discontinued soon (a dress from a 2015 collection lol). She also told me they have the cheapest prices there (it was $1950)..which I found out also wasn’t true. Also, we weren’t allowed to take pictures of me in the dress because they “have a deal with the designers that we won’t allow pics to be taken since we want you to FEEL it’s your dress when you try it on” -.- …..Because I wasn’t happy with the store, I decided to to not buy the dress from there. As I didn’t really want to give them my business. 1 week before this, I had an appointment at a bridal store called Elmwood Brides in Aurora, ONT. The lady who worked there was so helpful, polite, honest, and just made sure I enjoyed my appointment. On a dress that I liked (Allure 9051) she offered me 10% if I wanted it. Her store was also a super comfy place to try on dresses, and you get your own room, which I liked. AND, they also happened to sell Kenneth Winston! I was more than happy to give Elmwood my business, so I called them up and asked if they could order me my dress, and they did..and they are selling it for over $300 cheaper than the other place! So I’m extremely happy I didn’t say yes to the dress right away..and now my dress should be here in November:)
…Anyway, here are a few pics, the two are from the KW website, and are not me. The baddish quality one is me, please ignore my hair, as it was dishevelled, and that veil as It’s most certainly not the one I’m getting, my aunt just stuck it to my head a second before the pic was taken. My mother took this picture super quickly when the lady had to run to the front of the store for a moment, hence it’s horrible quality. These pics do the dress no justice, it’s absolutely stunning in person!

I forgot to mention the back is sooo much nicer in person too, and it’s Kenneth Winston 1565 if anyone wanted to know.

If you’re in Ontario, the place I had a bad experience at was Sophies Gown Shoppe in Mississauga. I’ll admit they have a nice selection to try on, however if you go there, keep in mind you can find your dress cheaper elsewhere.

I knew I recognized the shop. Unfortunately I went with the for my dress but will be taking my alterations elsewhere. I did get a 10% discount though so I cant complain too much (turned out cheaper then bestforbride website too). Ps. you look lovely in your dress!

Beautiful! Good for you for not supporting a business like that! I, too, refused to purchase a gown from a snooty bridal store. That store (The Bridal Gallery in New Westminster, BC) wouldn’t even tell me who the designers were (they actually ripped the tags out of all their dresses), let alone allow me to take a picture. They also gave me the ‘you never know when the designer is going to discontinue dresses’ bs. I went somewhere else and am so happy that I did!! Post pictures when you get your lovely gown in! 🙂

i went to 5 bridal salons when looking for a dress and none of them let brides take pictures of the dresses until they buy it.
