I’m new to the boards and have been following all of you as you find your dresses. I just ordered mine yesterday (after many hours and different stores) and it’s nothing like I pictured for myself. I had envisioned a full lace gown with sleeves and covered back (still LOVE this style) but I never thought a strapless looked good on me. The lady at the bridal store picked this one out for me after seeing me in like 20 gowns, i never would have tried it on! I love how I feel in this dress, but I just worry if ill be disappointed that I didn’t get a more vintage lace dress that I pictured – eventhough I tried on so many of them and they didn’t suit me.
Let me know what you think! I also still would like a bolero or something to cover up if I feel the need, but do you think this dress would suit a lace bolero? Thanks SO much!!!

It’s a beautiful dress on you. To be honest, I think a lace bolero would be too much, given the dress already has a lot of detail on it.
Did you try on any lace-sleeved styles? How did you feel about the comparison?

I think it’s beautiful on you. I am having a hard time picturing it with a bolero bc it looks so good without!

Welcome! Beautiful choice! Looks great on you!!!

oh its beautiful! but i think a bolero would take away from the beautiful detailing on the bottom. It looks great on you!! i know how you feel though, i was certain that i wanted a covered back, lace, and all that but went another direction. You cant help how you feel in your dress.

I love your dress!! I definitely do not think a bolero is necessary…it may take away from the beautiful detail on the rest of the dress.

Beautiful dress. . . congrats! I don’t think you need a bolero. . . the dress is beautiful on it’s own and looks great on you!

I wouldnt add anything do it. The dress needs to stand alone. Its beautiful on you.

Its a lovely dress and looks wonderful on you. How did you feel in lace gowns? If you feel like you HAVE to wear bolero, I would choose one of those sheer tulle/organza ones.

Pretty! I think a bolero might be a little much since your dress already has a few different kinds of details, but it can’t hurt to try one out and see.

@peonyinparis: Thanks so much! I tried on many lace dresses, some with sleeves, but mostly with straps and although I loved them, I didn’t like how I felt in them, really weird! I felt like the lace was a little too much for me on my chest and shoulders. So maybe you’re right the lace bolero may be too much. Thanks!

Thanks so much everyone!! I think you’re all right about the lace bolero being too much. I think it’s just the vision I had for myself that I can’t seem to shake. I really love this dress and it was the only one that I felt confident in! So strange how we can surprise even ourselves when we think we know what we want but it’s actually something totally different! Thanks ladies!!
