Congrats on the pregnancy!!
I am a little confused, tho. If you just found out you are pregnant, why the need for bed rest now? Why not worn a while and then deal with complications if they arise.
The first day of my current job I told my boss I was 12 weeks pregnant. I have continued to work and work from home when I am not at the office. I still feel like I contribute quite a bit and plan to return to work after maternity leave.

How far along are you? I am also confused as to why anyone would immediately go on bed rest after getting pregnant. most girls work through their pregnancy. Sounds like a call centre job, so I imagine it doesnt involve tasks a pregnant person shouldn’t be doing? If you don’t want tonwork while pregnant then by all means notify your new employer, just let them know that when you accepted the job you did not know your were pregnant and you do not want to take the job in light of the news. In fact Toronto have to tell them you’re pregnant, you can just let them know you’re putting in your notice, it’s none of their business why.

Get a note from the doctor who put you on bed rest outlining your physical restrictions. Present the note to HR along with your resignation.

“Due to unforseen circumstances I am no longer able to accept this job position. Thank you very much for the opportunity.”
Or something along those lines.
Although I don’t know why you’d need to be on bedrest if you literally just found out you’re pregnant.

ballebitan: I like Westwood‘s wording: “Due to unforseen circumstances I am no longer able to accept this job position. Thank you very much for the opportunity.”
Though I echo the other posters. Why would you need to be on bed rest if you just found out you’re pregnant? I’m newly pregnant and even with the morning sickness haven’t had to miss work yet.
