What pretty rings and nice stories. I never heard of promise rings before these boards and then believed them to be a high school sort of thing but l see that there are other , adult situations. And who doesn’t want an extra ring !

- Wedding: October 2021 - Schoharie, NY
@alhena: congrats! Lovely ring and meaning.
This was my promise ring. Nearly 6 years later and we’re legally married (wedding postponed due to COVID-19).
Promise rings can truly be a sign of commitment!!

What a beautiful ring, and it looks beautiful on your finger, too. It is so sweet and romantic, and I love how much thought your SO put into it. I am wishing you and your sweetheart all the best luck for getting through your LDR. It sounds like you both have a strong relationship and connection, so I think the time until you can see each other again will fly by. Before you know it, you will be together!
My husband and I were long distance for 3 years when we were engaged. And then, we were long distance again for almost a year shortly after we got married. It was a challenging time, but it made our relationship stronger, in the end.
This is my promise ring. I still have it, but I don’t wear it any longer. It’s still really sentimental to me. My now-husband gave it to me when we first started dating in college. We will celebrate our 22nd anniversary this coming October.

Your ring is beautiful, I love the start shaped cz! I bought a star shaped amethyst not so long ago.
I’m a bit of a space enthusiast and I recently saw a gold bracelet with all kinds of different stones representing the solar system. I really hope to buy it one day!

I love your ring! I think it is gorgeous and I love the sentiment behind it!
DH and I are a long distance success story! DH and I were long distance for 2 1/2 years (which included 10 months of marriage) and only saw eachother maybe a total of 6 weeks in those 2 1/2 years. Sounds crazy, but we made it work!

your ring is gorgeous, I love the detail and the twisted design!
thank you for sharing your story, it is beautiful. I admire and respect your dedication, maintaining the relationship through a year long separation after only dating for three days is impressive! I suppose that sometimes you can just feel that something is meant to be… All the best to you, your husband and your baby! 🙂

very pretty ring! I hope things will go back to normal and you will be able to have your wedding soon.
thank you so much for your heartfelt words of encouragement, and congratulations for soon reaching your 22nd anniversary! I love the color of the stone of your promise ring.
wow, this bracelet is awesome, I hope you will be able to buy it! The colors of Mars, Uranus and Neptune are beautifully accurate. And it is nice to meet a fellow space enthusiast! I am on the way to becoming a theoretical cosmologist, and have been passionate about the universe since I was 12. I even have a telescope with which 4 of Jupiter’s moons and Saturn’s rings are visible!
I am very happy that your LDR worked out for you, it must have been challenging to have so little time together during these 2.5 years. But I guess it is all worth it, once we have found the right person 🙂

@alhena: Really?? That’s so cool! I only discovered my interest in space in the last few years, prior to that I didn’t really know anything about it (I’m gonna blame the religous school my parents sent me to, lol) and I was so amazed by it.
Last year we visited Canada and went to the dark night festival. We looked at the telescopes (although it was a bit cloudy at the time to see anything out of the ordinary), saw some meteorites, was super fun.
Anyways! I really hope to get the bracelet at some point. It’s quite expensive so I always postpone it because I buy other things here and there. Here are the stones the jeweler said she used to create it:
Mercury as a 2.5mm rosecut moonstone
Venus as a 3mm andalousite
Earth as a 3mm cabochon moonstone
Mars as a 2.5mm garnet
Jupiter, carved in 14K gold
Saturn, carved in 14K gold
Uranus as a 4mm amazonite
Neptune as a 4mm star sapphire
Pluto and her largest moon, Charon as two 1mm diamonds

- Wedding: September 2019 - The Oaks Lakeside
I actually have 2 promise rings because my now husband bought me one back in highschool that unfortunately got damaged so he got me a new one a little later. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of the first one but this was the second, which I wore up until we got engaged 😊
I got him a promise ring too, and here they are together
after we got married I got a picture of my promise ring, engagement ring, and wedding ring all together

I just saw your response! Sorry for the delay! And yes, it’s totally worth it! The time apart is hard and isn’t the greatest, but there are special moments in the distance as well!

I love the photo of your 3 rings together showing the progression of the relationship, what a wonderful memory to keep!
