We are eloping with just a photographer in our town in two weeks. The courthouse seemed to be the only option and, of course only open during business hours and can’t guarantee a day/time due to the schedule of the court. We conceded to this arrangement and picked a Thursday that our photographer is available. Now it turns out Fiance has a big important meeting that day and can’t be away from work. I just found out that the mayor can officiate and he’s available on a Saturday! That’s one of the rare Saturdays our photographer is open as well!
Bonus: The mayor is really enthusiastic to officiate for us and will be his first wedding. He and his wife were married in a city hall over 30 years ago and she recently passed away. He views this as an honor to her memory. So sweet. This is a very conservative, religious small town so I thought we would get the side-eye for having a civil wedding so this makes me very excited!
