- Wedding: June 2013
Before I got engaged, I was on the boards on and off but now that Fiance popped the question, I’m sure that I will be much more active on here! (Just a little backstory on us–FI and I have been together for 2 and a half years. I am 21 and he is 20. We are both juniors in college and plan on getting married in June of 2013.) Fiance proposed to me two weeks ago while we were on a Spring Break ski trip in Monarch, Colorado with his best friend and my brother. Fiance let his best friend and my brother in on his plan to propose to me and I had NO IDEA at all. All four of us took the lift up to the top of the mountain and we were looking out to this AMAZING view, so Fiance said that we should get his friend to take a picture of us. I was standing there posing for the picture and then all of a sudden Fiance moves out of the way and I was like “Hey, what are you doing, I thought we were taking a picture?” and then I look down and there he is on one knee with a ring saying “will you marry me?” It was such a beautiful moment! Of course, I said “oh my gosh, oh my gosh, are you serious?” over and over until I got over the shock and said yes. Then my brother and our friend started cheering and telling me about how they were in on it the whole time! 🙂
There are a lot of funny stories that lead up to him proposing. One of them is that I actually almost opened the drawer that he was hiding the ring inside two nights before he proposed. I started opening up a drawer and he quickly pushed my hands out of the way and was like “DON’T OPEN THAT!” and I was like “why not?” and then was like “it’s just really personal.” I was SO confused. I was like “what is so personal that you can’t tell me about it?” And he kept saying “I’m sorry, it’s just really embarassing.” So needless to say, I was very confused about what was in the drawer but I decided to be respectul of him and not keep asking. Turns out, my ring was right there and I almost saw it!
I’m really happy that I didin’t accidently see it, because it was so fun to be surprised. FI and I had looked at rings earlier this year and he had told me that he would probably propose “sometime this year” so I was assuming that it would be at the very end of the year. He had tried to throw me off by saying things like “I really need to look into how to by a ring because I don’t know much about it.” Hahaha. He ended up picking a beautiful ring out all by himself. He did such a great job!
It was just the greatest feeling-being on top of a mountain with my new fiance and my brother and FI’s best friend. I am so thankful that we were all able to share that moment together. It’s definitely one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
I just wanted to share my story with you guys and I can’t wait to start planning with you all on here!
