@MissFemmeFatale:  the vicodin is making me terribly sick. It isn’t killing all the pain either. I am also taking ibuprofen.

Honestly, I hate ginger! I took a little bit of probiotic and some aloe juice, as well as ate a bit of mint ice cream and it’s better, but not awesome.

I’m really hoping a different painkiller will make me feel less wretched!

I miss solid food already! I’ve never liked soup!

@AcheneMalefic:  I’m only bleeding a teeny bit. Have you used tea bags? I felt those helped me earlier when my face was more gooey.

@Baimee:  You may think the pain killers aren’t working, but wait til you wait too long for a dose. The pain is going to exist, pain killers just take the edge off. I cried about not being able to eat solid food. I made chicken and dumplings and I just started bawling when I couldn’t eat it. My recovery was bad, so I spent about 3 1/2 weeks either liquid or not chewing. Scrambled eggs helped.

@MissFemmeFatale:  good point! I’m sure my pain would be horrible without! 2 hours after taking my first vicodin i was in tears because it hurt. So it isn’t totally ideal I think. Unless that’s normal? Anyhow, I took  ibuprofen at that point as well.  Been taking that every so many hours also.

I am also horrified because this is my county’s restaurant week!!! I am missing so many days of it. I love food, so this is making me extra crazy. I’m sorry you had a hard recovery!! I stocked up on like, two dozen eggs. I’m so excited for them.

@Baimee:  I was taking 10 Vicodin and 800 mg Ibprofen. Set your alarm and take the pills on time.

@MissFemmeFatale:  I hadn’t even thought of setting an alarm. Good call.

i can’t imagine taking that much vicodin! I loathe taking what I am! I’ve been taking 900mg ibuprofen, but that’s been normal for me for a while. Getting this procedure was delayed, and my impacted teeth were killing me!

@AcheneMalefic:  You look amazingly good for 10 minutes post surgery in that pic. I was really puffed up, I have an identical picture to your first one where I’m passed out next to my great-grandmother on the couch, haha.

Hehe I loved getting my wisdom teeth taken out 🙂 I only had 2, it took 10 minutes and I woke up laughing. I was also given 4 days off of work and we had had a huge snow storm the day of my surgery. Rather than stress about getting to/from work, I got to curl up on the couch with my friends 🙂 when I had pain I’d take a Vicodin and take a nap.

That being said, my roommate got hers taken out the same day, she actually went in right after me. Her teeth were impacted, she had sockets and got an infection. She had to get antibiotics and was in bed for 2 weeks. We had to spoon feed her ensure because she couldn’t eat and she was losing too much weight. She actually got very upset with me because my recovery was so easy and hers was quite difficult.

Sooo yeah, everyone has a different experience 🙂

My wisdom teeth extractions were a piece of cake.    I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed and 2 others near the front to make room for braces.  When I came to after the surgery I woke up bawling my eyes out, I guess that’s how I deal with the anesthetic.   I never bruisEd and had no swelling and I even smoked the next day!  I’m lucky I didn’t get dry socket.    I had an amazing recovery!

My recovery was fine! The pain of the impacted teeth was much worse than the pain post-op.

@Baimee:  this is a bit gross, but here goes.

I got a car torch (you know those really bright tiny ones for finding the lock on the car door?) and shone that into my mouth and ‘fished out’ bits of food from the holes with a tooth pick.

@Baimee:  Ugh, Vicodin made me sick too! And sleepy. I’d take it, fall asleep, wake up, and puke. And it definitely didn’t do as much for the pain as I thought it would, either, even with 800mg ibuprofen I was taking, too. I ended up having to get a refill.

When I went to get the refill I asked the pharmacist for advice because of what the Vicodin was doing to me, and he said to take it with food. That just made the throw up worse when I woke up after a dose. Blech.

Gosh I know mine will probably need  out in the years to come and I’ve been having problems with my jaw and back teeth a little for the past month so I think my time is coming near. I doubt mine will go so smooth or that they’ll put me under since I have to go to a free clinic (no dental coverage) but I wish they would, I’m terrified of dentists.

@Miss Jackrabbit:  I think that would terrify me as well! A good strategy though.

@LaCroix:  seriously! I start to feel better only when it starts wearing off. Then it hurts. It is also making me itchy. I’m so confused.

@HappilyEverAfter54:  I will be honest, it was a little hard being awake. The hardest was actually being numbed for me! It’s a weird painful. My first tooth was hard on my jaw (TMJ) but the other three? Not a problem. A little discomfort, but not bad and very quick. In some ways it was nice because I have been alert all day. No waking up process. That’s been nice. I also dislike laying around asleep so that was comforting. Plus there is always a risk when you go under. Try to make the besit of it. The removal goes quickly!!
